I really hope this pushes Luka into being a demon in the gym and with his diet

Remember Luka drinking a beer after the WCF and Michael Finley coming in taking it away from him?

This was brewing for a while.

I don't like this smear campaign against Doncic. The Mavs FO really thinks that we're that stupid

I don't know. I just can't believe they're saying this about a guy who got them to the finals a year ago. Obviously he'd be even better if he had Kobe's work ethic, but he's one of a few players who has the talent to get you a championship, and he's still young. Glad I'm not a Mavs fan because that ownership/front office seems toxic.

Man wtf are the Mavs doing, Luka absolutely does not deserve this type of slander. I’d never support them again as fan after this stunt, freaking abhorrent.

Yeah the whole FO needs to burn, I hope Luka wrecks them every time Lakers face Mavs.

Just seeing the way Dallas treated Doncic in this whole saga, I wonder how this will impact their ability to lure stars their way in the future.

Yeah, the inclusion of Shaq there just continues to make the new Mavs ownership look like tourists parroting stuff other people told them.

I wouldn't have made the trade.
I don't think it's going to work out well for the Mavs.
But even if it does, it's definitely not going to be because Mavs ownership understand basketball better than the rest of the basketball world.

Being out of shape and having a subpar work ethic is not impossible to fix. Especially when you have a billion dollar organization behind you and you're 25 years old. It's clear the Mavs have another agenda and they are just using this excuse as a front.

It’s become obvious to everyone who can do a google search that they never wanted Luka. They are in the business of making $$$ and not winning titles..

And they sure didn’t want a European leading the charge

Has a player who didn't request to leave ever been treated this poorly in NBA history? I genuinely can't think of one.

Its obvious the new owners didnt want to pay Luka $70m/per. Nico was the messenger.

Who in their right mind would trade Luka at age 25/26?

shi-woo wrote:I'm 100% convinced at this point that this was something manufactured by the league, and they have been gaslighting us with propaganda for years around Luka's health.

Last years playoffs and Windhorsts inexcusable rant about Luka not being serious in the finals. All just gaslighting so it's easier for owners and GM's to say what they've said the past two weeks and the casuals just nod their head and go along.

A single focus to win? Bro, go back to the 80's, this is a league focused on money and internet fame, and the players who actually are 100% about ball are some of the most hated in the league (KD, Tatum, Booker, ect). What he seemed to forget is those guys were mainly major competitors ore than anythig, they just didn't do an extra hour of weight training every day, they literally would die on the court. Luka is one of the most competative guys in the league  Davis, on the other hand? come on.

I also find it hard to believe in a league that idolizes street culture, promotes it, and actively engages with it on a game to game basis, has an issue with Luka's partying. I just find it strange that a lot of his peers can party all night, get a bottle at the strip club after a game, and that is something w promote, but Luka having a beer after a game is someone messed up? It literally boggles my mind how we can make jokes about how HOU, LA, and MIA get all the FA's because they have a lot of strip clubs and night life activities, but partying when you're Luka is such a no no

If I have to hear one more time how Luka hits a Hookah in the offseason in a league where the majority of dudes are smoking a QP a day is just...Again, it's mind boggling how far reaching they are with all this stuff

And on Top of that he named Bird (who would drink after games) Shaq (who was a party animal and cared about that more than the game sometimes) Jordan (who was a gambling addict and egit party animal) and Kobe (a dude who was on trial for literal Rape)...Again, these guys just had to pull a fast one of the Nike/Rating money, and they are just doing damage control to keep the Truman Show running. Who going to place bets on a league that is so clearly influenced by Nike/TV deals?

Tbf, Kobe did have an insane work ethic. It was what he was known for. Shaq on the the other hand...

Howl at the moon all you like....no amount of nonsensical spin on DAL part is going to detract from the FACT that the FO made a braindead decision.

Jedi32 wrote:I know a lot of us really like a good conspiracy theory, but maybe they didn’t like the way Luka carried himself as far as conditioning. This is the owner talking now. Also we don’t know what happened behind the scenes. I’m glad he’s a Laker, though I miss AD. Before the trade I’ve seen people here mention Lukas weight and what not, so maybe despite all his talent the owners didn’t want to pay him $350 million if he couldn’t stick to disciplined conditioning.

Little to do with culture and
Little to do with European

Everything to do with paying $70m/per.

regardless of your feelings about the trade or the mavs, imho, this puts alot of pressure for luka to show up in great shape next year. all eyes on him unless lakers win a chip this year, then none of this will matter.
