White to Orl at draft

Post#1 » by pipfan » Sun Feb 9, 2025 7:07 pm

I think Orl should have done this last week, but at the draft

White for Anthony/#17 pick
or
White for Harris (team option picked up)/Howard and #25 (Den pick)

Orl gets an upgrade, a nice 3rd guard to come in and score. Coby's a great kid and will fit in there nicely.

Chi goes all in on the '26 draft

The Bulls would really have to have identified someone at #17 and that would be after more than a handshake with the Magic to do this well before the draft. Forget the Harris idea, the Bulls want to go younger than Harris, If ORL is so eager to trade Howard to get White they must not be satisfied and #25 is not a help.

The Bulls as you're aware have plenty of guards with decisions on White, Giddey, Dosunmu, Huerter and Carter as expirings next season and Jones at the end of this season. Anthony is in the age range as the others and has the same year plus a TO to go on his contract. It's a lateral move maintaining the glut to get a pick. With the number of players under contract they would still have to thin the glut to add 2 rookies, guards or not.

They've signed Lonzo so he's here, then they've got to decide if anybody in their guard glut, or Anthony, can score like Coby and I think that's a no.

If it's just this deal alone, I think they say no. Now if they can move Carter and Terry to get rid of their contracts and one of Giddey, Ayo and Huerter, then adding Anthony is tolerable. But money wise, they can probably sign Tre Jones for less than Anthony and he's the real pass first PG besides Ball.

I would love Coby White here but you have to think that Bulls wanted more or Orlando willing to offer less. We could have done that deal at the deadline if that's what discussions led to. The fact that Coby didn't get traded maybe tells you Bulls asking price is more then teams willing to pay.

Orlando also has to be strategic in players they trade for, sign or draft moving forward. Once that Paolo contract kicks in 26-27 season with Franz and Suggs, we re going to be limited in spending. Coby white is likely to get a nice raise in his next contract and idk if orlando will be willing to match that. Orlando does have assets but likely only trade for players they can retain.

As a non Bulls dan, it's weird I need to inform you of your own team.

Josh Giddey is a RFA after this season.

Coby loses value from last week, since his cheaper deal is only one season, instead of a year and a half

I think Coby should be a 6th man, and they would be expensive for a year, until KCP expires. It's a gamble, but worth it for Orl. They have so many young guys-and 2 picks coming this year-that they won't have minutes for all of them

If the Bulls can't extend Coby White to a reasonable contract, something like this could be an option provided they like someone on the board at that pick. I have little confidence in the Bulls finding a good player with that pick, though... sorry Bulls fans.

Coby and Ayo can’t be extended beyond 140% of their contracts with the Bulls. 16.8M. I think Coby will get 22-25m per.

AK is patient to a fault. He wanted a 1st for Zach and got it. He wanted a 1st for Vuc and could t get it so he didn’t trade him.

7 teams called on Coby at the TDL. AK said he was laying the groundwork for the summer.

I think he wants two assets. A young player and a good 1st. I think he was scared of Magic getting Coby and then going on a winning streak and hurting the pick. In the summer he knows exactly where the pick is.
