Most incredible timeline: Jokic free agent to Lakers

Post#1 » by Black Jack » Sun Feb 9, 2025 11:18 pm

Let’s say Lakers and Denver don’t win rings now until Jokic is able to go free agent, Denver’s roster breaks down. Maybe Wemby Spurs, OKC, some other young teams got next and start dominating.

Luka is on the Lakers. His good buddy Jokic decides you know what? I know who can help me win another title. Time to move to LA! And with such a combo….titles are almost inevitable.

What’s stopping this? In fact I think either Giannis or Jokic WILL consider it.

And all because the new Mavs owners didn’t want to pay Luka $70M a year.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

what's stopping this is neither will ring chase. specifically neither will buddy up like lebron/wade/bosh, kyrie/durant/harden to do it

There's a better chance of Luka going to Denver than Jokic ever leaving

I said this in the Luka trade thread as well. One of Jokic or Giannis going to LAL is pretty much inevitable. The Lakers will need to build a Nico Harrison statue in front of Bitcoin Arena or whatever it's called.

Edit: After calming down a bit haha. I will say, no, this won't happen. Jokic is happy in Denver.

Also Jokić: He (Luka) can come to Denver if he is not happy

Why would Jokic, the most down to earth, low profile kind of player, go to all that exposure in LA?

He said that he'd rather live in Denver, than in any of the big market cities. Denver is perfect for his family's life and I don't see him moving anywhere until the end of his career.

Timelines fits.

Denver continues to lose assets. Lakers have Luka. And Reeves. Makes sense. It's RealGM's worst nightmare though so you know it's going to happen. If he doesn't care about legacy and rings, he'll stay in Denver forever. Which can also happen.

Yeah this trade has changed the course of NBA history, and in a very bad way for the Mavericks. Incredible own goal.

Luka is way too vain to leave LA. Its going to be paradise for him as a young rich celebrity.

Leaving the Lakers to move to Denver would be stunning to me.

If you’re talking about 2027, I believe the target is Giannis. I just want the Lakers to do the two superstars and depth model instead of the big 3 approach.

Wouldn't this cost Jokic a lot of money?

He's in Denver.... neither part of your statement makes sense.

both Giannis and Jokic are 10 year vets. Any future signings are 35% of cap regardless of team they are on.

Supermax was there to get team to be able to keep their rookies that were kept in RFA and now entering UFA. This is typically only 8 years.

I stand corrected.

Denver better put a team around that man.

Joker is the antithesis of Hollywood. I would be floored if he went there.
