They did have 11 wins with Deshaun Watson and Joe Flacco in 2023-24. Deshaun Watson was historically awful, Reggie White or Lawrence Taylor may not haveThe only issue is giving up that much draft capital for him.

Look I get it . Miles Garret is interesting. But there are good edge rushers on the open market and we have hella of cap room. We have a frost in a very deep edge rushing draft. I wouldn't do it. Id hold firm and keep building the team before we do any kind of sell the farm situations .

This draft is deep in edge rushers but there's no "Myles Garrett".
This is the time to be bold.
Need to maximize this window while Jayden is on his rookie deal.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
yeah myles garrett isn't just the best DE in the game right now, he's an all-timer. the amount of attention he receives from blocking schemes is insane. pair that with Allen inside and it's a wrap.

Congrats to our ROY, Jayden Daniels! The best is yet to come. Everyone is going to want to play with him for a chance to win.

It was.
I said it last week: The winner of the NFC championship game is the next Super Bowl champion.

The Chiefs corner who is all pro couldn't slow down AJ Brown. I guess he's washed up like Lattimore.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I think we'd all love to have the Eagles defensive line but it's not as easy as just focusing on the position group. We invested so many resources attempting to do this in the Rivera era and the result went from really promising to mid pretty quickly. Chase Young, Daron Payne, Johnathan Allen. 3 first round investments. We tried to kick off that era of rebuild the right way and it didn't work out.
Obviously, we've got more faith in this FO and DQ, but yea. I'm not sure what answers there are to getting ahead of the Eagles team we saw last night.

There's a lot of AJ Browns in this league. If you're gonna get rekt in man against these guys, okay, no shame, we'll scheme around it, but it's got to be reflected in your salary as well.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I'm convinced more than ever that we had a shot against Philadelphia. We turned the ball over 3 times on our own side of the field, which led to points. We beat ourselves.
Yesterday's game is also an indictment that we need to build the trenches. Josh Sweat is someone I'd be interested in signing if we can't get Garrett. He's going to break the bank from his performance last night. Baun is another guy I'd be interested in too.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
the eagles pass rush starts and ends with Jalen Carter. he commands so much attention that the eagles were able to get 6 sacks and never blitzing. it's unheard of. it's aaron-donald levels of attention. rushing 4 guys against 5 o-line guys plus backs and tight ends? and getting there?
it's why Garrett is so intriguing. between Allen and Garrett, we have the potential to have that for ourselves. with those two guys each needing at least a chip or slide, if not full double teams, it's 4 blocking 2.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Depending on what happens with other moves, adding Khalil Mack on a short deal (a la Bobby Wagner) could be an interesting Plan B for the pass rush.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I didn't see them go the tag route, and it's the non-exclusive one which means if a team wants to sign Higgins to an offer sheet and the Bengals reject it, they get two first round picks.
So the Commanders could go the trade route and go for Kupp as a one year stop gap and add another receiver to the room, or they could sign Chris Godwin. Looking at the NFL FA rankings, Higgins was the top ranked free agent, Godwin is 7th. Next receiver on the list is Diggs at 25, coming off an ACL.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
They need to upgrade the receiver room for sure. Terry will be 30 in September, which is usually when receivers decline. Ertz is a free agent, and again on the wrong side of 30. I see Luke and Dyami as #3s.
Long story short, they need an upgrade at the skill position. They need a guy other than Terry that can turn a short pass into a big gain or a tuddy. I don't care what position, whether it's another WR, TE, or RB. They need another game changing offensive player to be able to beat the cream of the league.
