Will Dumont put out a statement about how getting injured is part of his winning culture?

It would save Mavs basketball but it's not going to happen.

This quickly turned into an even worse trade for Dallas.

I'm still surprised that they didn't shop Luka around the league to start a bidding war and that they didn't get more from LA. At least get Knecht and every pick you can. I don't care if they didn't let them talk to Luka's age. Get those assets.

Why bother having a bidding war when a team like the Lakers will give you 30% of the value?

This is like a guy having a $10 million dollar mansion and he wants to sell it, and he doesn't put it up on the market just selling it to a random guy for $3 million.

I hate to laugh at the Mavs' pain, they don't deserve it but this meme is pure gold.

Dwade a trusted all time good guy. If he said the owners made this decision believe him.

Nico could have resigned, but he's a spineless worm so he didn't.

No being spineless worm would be going against your boss because of public opinion. Nico did what anyone else would have done and he followed his boss's orders. I have yet to see a GM retire because the owner told them to trade a popular player.   He's no different than the rest of us, either we do our job or we don't have a job. Folks blaming nico are barking up the wrong tree. The owner recently came out with comments not very favorable to Luka. This falls on the owners, not the league and not Nico.

Resigning requires conviction. Nico not resigning makes him a spineless worm.

Nico has amassed millions of dollars over his career as a failed shoe salesman and now failed executive. He could have retired the day Miriam/Patrick told him to trade Luka and he would have still been financially secure for the rest of his life.

He will never work in sports management again as a result of this trade, so it's not like going through with his boss' orders did him any good.

The way AD looked before the injury would lean me into believing he was healthy. Also, either the owner or Nico are backing the other and I’m leaning Nico.

All just to quench the hate Nico is getting.

People should be fired for this.

Anybody who's played with a strain not fully recovered knows how that feels like. You can feel great and healthy but all it takes is one twitch move to re-aggravate it.

Happened to me multiple times playing soccer. That was the hammy though.

Who reported that and how do we know the report was true? I can tell you that every abdominal injury is tricky and should be treated with caution, doesn't make me an insider.

Looking at what Redick was saying along with the doc whose tweet I posted said about the timeline, it looked like AD suffered a grade 1 ABDOMINAL strain which takes 10 days to recover from at most. He returned 2 weeks after an injury so I have no idea why would anyone think he was rushed back. In his first game back he suffered a different injury, an ADDUCTOR injury.

Since we're making uneducated guesses, going from 2 weeks of very little physical activity to playing 30 minutes and going all out in his 1st game back is what probably caused an injury. Especially when we all know AD is also very prone to picking up small injuries, they don't call him Day to Davis for nothing.

This is just me guessing we would not have played him until the post ASB break. But him being out 2 weeks without training and then playing all out would also explain it to be honest.

What the NBA should do is step in and ban Nico, Ban the entire Lakers FO, and impose severe penalties on the Lakers organization. The closed nature of this trade smells to high heaven. It is not healthy in any sport and it should not be allowed to go unpunished. But, the Lakers make money for the league, and they won’t do the right thing. Just like they didn’t when the Lakers poached AD or when NYK poached Brunson from Dallas. The Mavs have really been taking it on the jaw the last 3 or 4 years, (kinda like the Pels before them.)

Dallas trading away their next 10 years for a
win now 2 year window’.. about to miss the playoffs LOL. I can’t believe an executive being paid MILLIONS can make such, such a poor decision.. it’s baffling

Kinda like trading KAT for Randle and DDV mere days before the start of training camp. The league seems to be colluding to move big name talent to big market teams for unreasonably poor returns.

Serious question, because AD never has like serious career altering injuries… has he ever gone to the locker room and actually returned to a game? I know with the Pels he wouldn’t even miss any more games, but every single time he ever left, that’s a wrap for the night lol.
