I get Nico is the scapegoat, but we all know this was the owners making a decision that helps the league. Nico had no control over trading Luka. He's just the fall guy.

Dwade a trusted all time good guy. If he said the owners made this decision believe him.

If owner make you do this, you resign, plain and simple. Resignation hurts your career far less than this move. This makes Nico not just a clown, his name will forever be remembered in history as a guy who made stupidest move in sports history. You **** resign...

These morons were on it together, the more they speak, the more apparent it is that they really don't know how stupid they are, they really do not get what they have done. Their justification on that Luka has no worketic is the poorest excuse ever, even if the owner is that stupid, he really thinks Shaq was hard working one, not Luka, it doesn't mean you didn't shipped third best asset in the nba for not even the third of its worth.

Like, I have a car worth 50k, but I personally feel it sucks, so it is smart to sell if for 15k now? How are these morons even have money in their lives, stupidest businessmen I have ever seen.

This is all a WWE style show. Nico/Mavs ownership are playing the Mr McMahon role as the villain while Luka gets his redemption arc as the slighted superstar while Lebron gets his arc as the 40+ vet teaching Luka how to win.

NBA figured out player entitlement failed their product as fans turned on the diva players as shown by the dismal ratings. Make management the villains and the players the victims and you have a much better show.

The Hoop Collective episode about AD injury was a complete **** show
Windhorst visibly frustrated and snippy, insisting that AD injury doesn't matter on the big picture of the trade and players always get injured.
Windhorst also went out of his way to defend Dumont.
Tim McMahon got his feeling hurt because a young local journalist (who actually travels and follows the team everywhere) exposed his lies about the death threats towards Nico Harrison, and calls him wannabe journalist.

Nico just locked in the dumbest GM in Dallas, ending Jerry's 30 year win streak.

It's funny, but I do feel really bad for Davis. He got unceremoniously shipped out of Los Angeles, everyone is crapping on the trade, saying he is "all" they got for Luka. I know he wanted to do good for Dallas fans that are hurting and help them win. Unfortunately, this is the Anthony Davis experience.

What the NBA should do is step in and ban Nico, Ban the entire Lakers FO, and impose severe penalties on the Lakers organization. The closed nature of this trade smells to high heaven. It is not healthy in any sport and it should not be allowed to go unpunished. But, the Lakers make money for the league, and they won’t do the right thing. Just like they didn’t when the Lakers poached AD or when NYK poached Brunson from Dallas. The Mavs have really been taking it on the jaw the last 3 or 4 years, (kinda like the Pels before them.)

How is it Lakers fault the other managements are just pure idiots? Unless you do believe there is actual ilegal activity and Nico somehow working for the Lakers? But MAVS owner backs the decision, so maybe owners are paid up too, they seem too rich for it to be the case, they also just massively tanked their franchise value.... Man I have never seen a trade where the logical explanation is ilegal collusion, it is unbelievable MAVS organization even trying to justify the decision, they look better off if they leave public to believe they just corrupt and the trade is fixed. Now they leaning into - no, we are actually just idiots, - excuse.

At least he isn't chubby.

If you think Harrison actually believes anything he has said publicly about this trade, you live in a fantasy world.

Facts.

I don't know the exact origins of the decision here, but I know this trade was not made to benefit the Dallas Mavericks basketball team on the court. No one involved in the decision making could have possibly thought that would be the outcome. I don't say that figuratively. I literally mean no one believed that. In other words, this was a rigged trade made in a rigged league.

A very convenient lie.

You aren't counting Luka's 50 playoff games, nor the fact that Covid shut down his 2nd season for 20 games.

AD his first 7 years played 479 NBA games , Luka in a haf season less of 6 1/2 years has played in 472 games. By the time AD comes back from his new injury Luka will have played in more games, while logging more minutes, playing in actual playoffs, and not having his season compromised by Covid.

Also, different era's, resting players is mandatory in the NBA Luka grew up in, 66-70 games is the norm now for everyone not named LeBron or Jason Tatum.

Good try though.

Because Brian is in on it. Remember him ripping into Luka in the finals, and everyone was shocked and kind of appalled by what he did?

Yeah, it all makes sense now, he was just the one planting the seed that Nico and the boys would water. Funny how Luka gets traded to his favorite team with the player he's a known mouth piece for currently pulling the strings.

All just very happy coincidences, I'm sure.

Normally, I'd say this is idiotic. You do what the owners say and you'll get another GM deal later if you need it. Again owners will know you did it for them. But this is truly a once in a generation level clown move that will never be lived down. You really might have to resign before you put your name on this.

Yes, I am not saying you quit any time owners makes gm decisions despite your wishes, all owners do that, and all gms deal with it. But this is different, you cant put your name on this trade, Nico was well respected 10 days ago, he would have landed on his feet if this was trully forced on him. But now, he forever put his name on it.

Haven't listened to the episode (yet). But I never thought I'd say this: Bontemps is now the only one on that podcast who at least isn't constantly acting as a mouthpiece. I've never liked him because he comes across as a bit whiny and know-it-all, but at least he occasionally talks some real stuff.
