Mark Cuban Urged Nico Harrison To Not Trade Luka Doncic
Mark Cuban urged Nico Harrison to not trade Luka Doncic to the Lakers, sources told Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Stein adds that by the time that Cuban found out about the deal, Harrison had already verbally agreed to the trade with the Lakers. It was reported that Harrison operated in stealth due to potential backlash from the Mavs fanbase.
Cuban also reportedly told Doncic for years that he wanted him to play for only the Mavs similar to Dirk Nowitzki. Cuban sold his majority interest in the Mavericks to the Adelson/Dumont family last season. When Cuban sold the team, his expectation was to remain in control of basketball operations "forevermore." But Harrison assumed ultimate authority reporting directly to Patrick Dumont just a few months later.

Mavs should have said that AD failed his physical, that's what smart GMs like Pelinka would do when they change their mind

When you do shady dealings, you deserve all the backlash that Nico and Mavs ownership are getting. Enjoy the rest of your tenures in a chaotic environment...

Wasn't up to Pelinka. It was up to the doctors assigned to review him and per the criteria set forth by the team to pass or fail a player physical.

Cuban knows he basically destroyed the Mavs by selling to the wrong people. No idea why he was so stupid to pick them.
Dumont talks about work ethic and character and lists of bunch of players (including Shaq) and didn’t mentioned Dirk..that’s all you need to know about the relationship of the new owner to the Mavs franchise and history

That trade still feels like a dream. You know when you wake up and think "That would never happen lol." But this actually did.

Cuban finally getting some heat now as he should. Brought the team, put his heart and soul into it only to sell it to scumbags who in the end might want to move the team to Vegas. Plus he's still apart of the ownership group with a minority stake in the team. Where's Silver at in all of this? Probably cheering from the sidelines.

Re: Mark Cuban Urged Nico Harrison To Not Trade Luka Doncic
this isn't news
in fact, cuban was asked for a response about the trade and he said "he doesn't have anything to do with operations anymore, MFFL"
so what's screwy about this "newswire" is it sounds a tad contradictory to what cuban answered.
how could cuban "urge nico to not trade luka" if this whole thing was supposedly done on the qt. it's a very poorly described/written newswire if you ask me and just a lot of garbage and fallout after the worst trade in sports history - just scattered debris from an atomic blast

Re: Mark Cuban Urged Nico Harrison To Not Trade Luka Doncic
Mark Cuban should've stayed as the Mavericks until he find someone who knew what they were doing. What so confusing about this is that Nico Harrison actually made some really good moves before his most recent major trade. Drafted Derek Lively over Cason Wallace or Gradey Dick, used their assets to trade for Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington, which helped them to get to the finals and improved the teams depth. He seemed to be on the right tracks towards one of the better GM's in the NBA. Then he decided to give up a Luka Doncic for a 32 year big man Anthony Davis with injury history. While Max Christie is looking very good and the 2029 Lakers pick could end being a really good pick(I'm not at all buying Luka is staying with the Lakers beyond next year), this trade was terrible mistake by the Front Office and Ownership group. Since this trade will not be able to be cancelled, the best the Mavericks can do at this point is apologise to the fans and Luka Doncic, fire Nico Harrison, and sell the team to a ownership who actually cares about basketball.

Worst instance of an owner selling a franchise since George Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney.

I mentioned it in one of the other Luka threads - Cuban should NOT get blamed for selling to these scumbags. People as a whole can be very deceptive and sadly, the ones you shouldnt trust the most are the ones that are the best at being deceptive. I 100% believe that if Cuban knew the full intent of these new owners, and had an inkling of thought that they were scumbags and not to be trusted, he would have NEVER sold the Mavs to them.

If you care, report the thread and see if the mods agree. Don't derail the thread with comments unrelated to the discussion. That's the purpose of that function's existence.

This whole situation is a stain on the NBA
Just the thought of Luka in a Lakers jersey gives me a visceral reaction. It's just.... incorrect. Idk.

Hey Cuban, you sold the team to them. Surely you did some due diligence? Or did you simply sell to maximize profit?
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
