10 day contract

Hopefully we hear soon details on if Alex Len is going elsewhere, declining to sign with us, or if the Pacers wanted to give first option to shine to Okafor ?

Today my kids and I are on the way to see the Mad Ants game at 12:30pm. Obviously it’s going to be a small crowd because of the time slot they’re playing in today before the Pacers play tonight in the fieldhouse.

I hope to see Furphy, Freeman, Q. Jax, Okafor, Ray J Dennis, Mathias, and Mangas. There’s actually only 1-2 players on the roster that I haven’t seen get minutes in the box scores this season.

For anyone interested in tickets they’re $20 a person and general admission first come first served. The Pacers open just one side of the lower bowl so you are watching basketball from seats down low. Cheap entertainment to watch the minor leagues of basketball.

Basically you will see players who are on 2 way NBA contracts and college players who weren’t drafted and chose to try and get to the NBA by being recognized for their play in the G league.

Mad Ants dominated this game from the start. Okafor stood out as a big force underneath. Quenton Jax stood out as a quick guard who could drive or hit the pull up jumper. Enrique worked the boards and scored well also. Furphy also easily scored and rebounded even though he looks stick thin and 16 years old.

Okafor 26 points and 11 rebounds
Q Jax 24 points and 8 assists
Freeman 22 points and 14 rebounds
Furphy 18 points and 12 rebounds
Mangas 11 assists 4 rebounds and didn’t score
Mathias 9 points

Headed now to Pearl St. pizza.

The enjoyable parts of going to the Mad Ants game experience was being able to sit in ear distance of the bench. You could see the players close up on the court. You heard the coaches and players shouting out coverages and communicating between themselves.

You were sitting in a few hundred dollar seats if it was the Pacers playing. So it was feeling the closeness of a game from the closest possible seats (unless you had a VIP clearance)even though these players were just playing the game they love having fun with not as much ego and not as much skill as a top NBA player. They went hard though knowing they’re being evaluated.

I guess I get numb to the fact that Jarace can still be designated to play with the Mad Ants ? Caught me by surprise.

Enrique Freeman, Quenton Jax, and Ray J Dennis also had great games today. Furphy just average.

Freeman 30 points on 14-19 shots, 10 rebounds
Q Jax 28 points, 6 assists, 9 rebounds
Ray J Dennis 19 points, 10 assists, 7 rebounds

Mad Ants now officially renamed "Noblesville Boom", with a nod to Slick Leonard and his famous "Boom, Baby!"

I've seen some mixed reviews on X about this, but im a big fan of this name. Very cool to honor Slick Leonard's iconic saying.

my suggestion is to edit this title by adding 2024-25 and then start a new one for the Boom 2025-26. you probably should make it sticky and unstick any threads from last season.
