Turning out to be a throwaway season. I mean, if you told me about the injuries this year and then the record and didn't say how they stayed afloat for so long, and then struggled after trying to reincorporate people, it wouldn't hurt as much.. but this team is just in a funk.

They really need to regroup during the All-Star Break after the next game.

Feels like team has lost focus on the playoffs and guys trying to get theirs, i.e. tanking mindset. Young tanking team feels. Suggs is not enough.

I don't know what their problem is, but until they get back to that, they're going to lose. Tonight was actually a good shooting night by our standards and we still lost. No pride in the defense or hustle. Just let them beat us.

I think that our lack of offense killed our defensive intensity. You can't keep having a high level defense if you can't score. it just doesn't work that way.

wish they would run more chin actions for paolo and franz....gets them going to the basket a bit more than just falling in love with the 3....but the turnovers killed us....and just in general us not getting back on defense is infuriating because thats the basics.....also there are situations where we don't have to switch everything trae was hunting paolo mismatch because it's easy penetration that just causes all kinds of breakdowns....KCP....i know he's never been a scorer or whatnot but man it sucks to see your starting shooting guard play 35 minutes with only 6 points to show for it....we need more....and of course once again....another 15 minute 0 point performance from gary harris getting blown by defensively....Cole as always turning the ball over and being unable to defend without fouling everybody around him got him benched....

all in all....it's the same issues.....the same issues weltman looked at and said.....nah, we're good lets stand pat....we're a very good team lol

This is the type of season I thought we’d have last season.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

Go Magic, Go Dwight, Go Vuc, Go Paolo, Go Keegan :)

If we try really hard we can get to 7th place.

In 2025 Orlando is 6-15. ONLY Washington (4-19) and Utah (5-15) have worse records and they are tanking shamesly. 28th place in NBA, baby.

Suggs is the defense. And Mo is the offense off the bench (64.9% TS%). We needed an efficient scoring guard to round things out at the deadline and the FO decided to take a nap instead.

You aren’t having a conversation.

You are just adding random remarks like I don’t know what I’m talking about. I do.

I’ve watched every game this season watching Franz and Paolo iso to the basket 99% of the time. I’m not randomly coming to this conclusion to piss people off. There is no functional offense being run here. Drive and dish to bad shooters isn’t running anything. It’s predictable.

So either Jalen Suggs is 100% the key to this team winning basketball games or Tim Legler is correct that they aren’t utilizing their roster around their elite scorers correctly.

There’s no way you watched this game, and the last 5-6 possessions on offense, and came away with the idea that Mosely was drawing **** up on the sideline. He’s not. And that’s not really entirely an indictment of him. It’s the staff. It’s the personnel. It’s the Front Office also.

How can we lose this game? Sigh. Franz with 37 and Paolo 31 plus the whole team shot more than 40% from 3. Is that a 3rd star problem? Or is it just we need to get Jalen Suggs back badly? Sigh

Flagg would be awesome but Harper would be the perfect fit. Sad that we’re even having this conversation.

People look at the points and think he had a great night. The team was at its worst when he was on the floor. Doesn’t defend worth a **** and doesn’t rebound. Say what you will about +/- and its value as a stat, but Paolo is consistently among the worst. And to be -19 on a night when he scored 30+ is bewildering. The guy is not an asset. Either he’s just tanking and doesn’t want to try defensively, or he’s just not going to be the superstar we envisioned.

If he’s playing hurt, he should not be playing. Not worth risking it for this group, which is full of bad players, going nowhere in a big damn hurry.

+\- is a pretty worthless stat without context. I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on it. Franz played well and got a 0.

Yeah it’s looking strategic now, and maybe a well hedged bet. If the team continues to struggle, we increase the value of our assets. If they return to form, there’s less disappointment but probably still a decent trade piece.

Suggs will help in multiple ways.

In addition to being an all-NBA defender, his energy on defense I believe trickles down to other guys who aren’t really giving it right now.

He’s also a high volume 3PT shooter which in and of itself is valuable because even statistically poor shooters will have games where they make a bunch of threes provided they’re taking an appropriate amount.

Suggs has made at least three 3PT shots on 12 occasions this year. And the 3PT shot is so valuable.

And Suggs likes to get in transition which is also quite helpful for a team that struggles to score.

He’s not going to immediately fix every single problem, but he’ll help a few things out significantly.

Iso only works in isolation. That cant be it every single time down the floor. But we have no PG, no shooters, no guard penetration …

A huge number of turnovers in the first 3 quarters combined with bad defense the entire game.

Return to Orlando Magic
