LMAO so get this. Haven't played Xbox in over a month and my last Game Pass subscription ran out. It's okay, back in August I bought a year's worth of codes when they went on sale at woot. $130+ worth.

Literally none of them work. They all say they're for a different region. Contacted MS, they confirmed those are all working codes, but I should contact woot and let them know they gave me codes for some other country.

Tonight sucks.

That sucks, man. Worst case scenario when buying codes.

I played KCD2 almost like it was my job the past week. I put 30 hours in, with tonight pending, in its first week of launch (thanks, lazy weekend!). And I would be, at what I'm guessing is its rough equivalent to Skyrim, yet to go visit the greybeards

Strong recommend to RPG lovers of virtually any kind. It starts out tough - not in a Soulslike sense, but almost like a survival game where you're just weak and have no equipment. It's been so gratifying to slowly find, craft, buy incremental upgrades and see my power rise.

I never played the first one and I'm hesitant to drop $70 on the game when the combat looks so bad/janky. Everything else I've seen looks fairly awesome but the stinking combat looks too off-putting. I'll probably wait for a sale to pick it up. Until then, I'm all aboard the Avowed hype train.

Combat is definitely not for everyone and probably the barrier to entry. I personally don't think it's janky (anymore - KCD1 was), but deliberate. They're really trying to recreate this feel of medieval combat. It kind of reminds me of old school Mount and Blade, but modernized.

I get it, though, and won't try and convince you or anyone. BUT! A couple things worth noting - it's $60 (which is wild IMO), and I've been in combat like 5% of my playtime lol. Also you def. do not need to play the first; I only played it for like 10 hours (can confirm, was janky).

Can't wait for Avowed. I may find it hard to put down KCD2, though. We'll see.

KCD2 is legit long. Like I'm wondering if it would push 100 hours if you did the main quest and most of the side quests.

I started it tonight. Definitely getting Skyrim vibes. I'm gonna try and play as little combat as I can, going with talking and stealth as much as possible. But I see it looks like there's a move you can acquire that basically turns combat into easy move.

Well ****, now I have to fit this into my gaming schedule. GGG's throwaway, "fine, we'll throw you a bone," random POE1 event has some absolutely cracked ascendancies. Look at this

Spark? Shockwave Totem? Could this even make straight-up Arc viable again?

KCD2 is definitely going to do nothing to fix my issue of going to sleep at a reasonable hour, I see.

Been begging for a new game that can hold my attention, and I love RPGs but personally didn't like Elden Ring and the soulslike type games. Guess I'm going to have to jump into KCD2.

2 hours ish into KCD2, and boy, I've got a lot to learn. Been watching some tutorials on the basics but this game is great. I suck at combat, granted I just really got through the boring linear start (which was boring, so much dialog, so little action) and feel like now I can really start to play however I want. Could easily see myself putting in 100 hours.

One thing I really like is the art style. The medieval time is fun and its just so vibrant. The grass, foliage, everything is so bright.

Last night after work I did literally nothing but brew dozens of potions to get my alchemy stat up. Can't say it was fun, but I accomplished something.

I can't wait for this. I never preorder anything and I preordered the deluxe version this morning for extra classes and bosses.

It's gorgeous, too. Once you get to the T-named towns, take a ride or run up to the castle and look out over the countryside you traveled through.

Game's legit difficult when you start because you have nothing. I died to bandits over, and over, and over again before I realized I couldn't (and maybe wasn't supposed to be able to) beat them and just went a different way.

I made coin from crafting and selling potions. Marigold potions sell for I think 50 coin a pop for strong.

I'm just plugging away at Tales of Graces. It's the definition of JRPG comfort food, but that's exactly what I wanted.

Glad to hear it's intentionally difficult in the beginning because the very first bandit I cam across absolutely wrecked me, then the next. I'm looking forward to plugging away at this and taking my time. I have no rush to beat it and an hour or two every couple of nights will make this last a long, long time.

Couple things I like.

Somehow I haven't ran into any bandits yet. I've only visited three or four towns and almost always during the day, but travel's been easy.

Speaking of, the fast travel system is nice. I'm used to Dragon's Dogma II or STALKER where either there's no fast travel, or if you use it you can expect to be ganked.

Also like the alchemy system. It's more involved than any other system I've played, but ingredients are plentiful and they don't restrict you based on whether or not you have a recipe. I'm up to Level 20 alchemy and I've made hundreds of the highest quality, most expensive potions. If you know what you're doing, and you have the ingredients, the game just lets you. That's nice.

Haven't done any thieving or sneaking around and have done very little crafting. But that's coming tonight.
