First The Athletic were reporting that the hornets called the lakers and offered Mark Williams after Pelinkas press conference where he said the market for centers is dry. Then it comes out from the lakers beat reporter for espn that Luka pinpointed Mark Williams the center he wants to play with and Pelinka pushed hard and made it happen. Then Hornets statement after the rescinded trade says that the other team pushed hard and they are happy keeping Mark. Now Shams is reporting again that the Hornets would like to appeal the lakers medical findings. NBA reporting used to be far better when Woj was around.

The Luka part was an interesting wrinkle, especially reading that the Lebron camp "noticed" how quick the front office tried to grant his wishes.

probably just crappy story telling by crappy journalists, but its all a wild ride

It’s killing my fantasy team on so many levels! We have limited adds on yahoo for this two week period. I have Mark on my team on IL and he’s not injured. Gafford just got hurt. I want Knect on the Hornets and my team but if he stays in the Lakers then I don’t want him. I have too much time on my hands to think in the pokey! :banghead:

Looks like the Lakers found out Alex Len was going to be available...Cold feet indeed.

Keep our assets get Len for cheap. Make major trade in off-season with those assets.

This is kind of a weird situation because if it turns out the physical wasn't actually bad then that makes me hate the trade even more and want to keep him on the Hornets. I hope the angle is getting the Lakers to forfeit some 2nds and fend off the hit to their reputation.

If you look hard enough, you'll find flaws. If you look long enough, you'll find the flaws you assumed were there. LA looked hard and long and saw what they wanted to see.

The Hornets weren't hiding anything, and they didn't give their young starting center away for free. The return of a one-dimensional player, a first round pick and the corpse of Cam Reddish was fair.

But when you look at the world with an electron microscope you're going to find flaws. And that's just what the Lakers did.

I hope the Lakers get penalized. I doubt they would but it seems like they should. Trading for Nurkic is gonna hurt the cap space and the Lakers backing out is suspect. It wasn't a secret that Mark was hurt and they made the deal knowing full well.

the Hornets are not at fault for this Mark Willams situation. And that the reports that “the Hornets didn’t provide the proper medical information” were misunderstandings and the Lakers had all the proper information going into trade

Marks said in that video that he thought there was a 99% chance that the trade will remain rescinded, but he agreed with what Charlotte was doing. Seems like the point is to try to clear their name.

marks thinks we have no case... but agrees with with hornets raising this. thinks nothing will happen, except maybe this type of future being addressed by league for future cba.

too much grey area for physicals to dispute

What if they rule in favor of us and we get to keep the 1st or the swap but players remain rescinded. That's what they should do. F the Lakers

Especially if someone could whistleblow that the Lakers heard from Alex Len’s folks that he’d prefer to go there instead of Indiana. But I’d never expect the bald dipwad to do anything for the Hornets. What he SHOULD do is make sure we get #1, just as he’s tipped the scale for the Spurs and others IMO.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

3:46: "So, Bobby, can you help us clarify something else too here. Is there an accusation on the Lakers' part that the Hornets withheld medical information? Or is it just that the Lakers' doctors found something different that maybe didn't pop up on the Hornets doctors' radar?"

BM: "Yeah, the Hornets didn't withhold information. I guess the release, what they put out on Saturday, was a little bit confusing for people in a certain way like that. It's a pretty simple process, the Lakers have access to all of Mark's medical information. They have access to everything. Once you agree to a trade, or you're in the process of making a trade, you can give that team access and they had access."

If the Lakers truly did get cold feet, i hope they get penalized or that the league force them to uphold the trade.

Do think they found something they felt was problematic enough to call it off. I mean, a few picks down the road and a decent prospect in Knecht is worth the risk given how much Mark Williams would raise the ceiling these next couple of seasons. And the backlash from pulling out of a deal without a good reason is going to hurt even more.

Luka getting gifted to the Lakers already makes it blatantly obvious that teams in the league conspire together to do what they think is best for ratings/money. If the league front office wants to obfuscate that reality it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to rule in favor of the Hornets.

Bingo!

Sports is a entertainment industry. Shady comes with the business.

Look at the NFL they were showing Tom Brady commercials all throughout the game while Mahomes was getting blown out. A reminder to the NFL audience Brady is the GOAT.

I don't remember them showing 1 commercial for Mahomes or Kelce. I wonder why...

Now that sports betting is legal it's only going to get worse. I dont take sports seriously anymore. It's just entertainment at this point.
