Kuzma and kpj don't even know the defense.. it was a back to back and we were tied until we got forced into Pat minutes and then blink and we're down 8.. there will be a gelling process.. it's one thing to have 1 dude on the floor that doesn't know the defense yet but having 2 is crazy ... also going against 2 all stars and your best player is out... we'll be ok

We've been gelling for two years now...

I understand we're down Giannis but GSW made some pretty big changes to their team as well. My point is mostly that the Bucks either flame throw from deep or they're in a lot of trouble. Every basket that isn't a 3 is usually kind of a difficult one.

Honestly what ultimately failed us wasn't even the guys we had imo. It was Horst and FO **** the bed every year in the draft. We haven't had one championship contending player developed or drafted in almost 10 years. Just review the draft history it's honestly the worst in the league. Not hitting on any draft pick screwed us royally.

I still read the name Giannis as "Jee-annis" in my head, but I always say it the correct way out loud. My brain is a mysterious place.

I wasn't saying the window's completely slammed shut. When you have a player like Giannis, you're never more than one great offseason away from being a top-tier contender, but anyone still griping about the Dame trade just needs to give it up and take the L already. Both Jrue and Khris are cooked as Top-3 guys on a championship contender.

The 2021 core was done and we really should have finished the process this previous offseason, or even last year's deadline, when we still had flexibility. Now we just feel incredibly stuck, and having to rely on dudes like Kyle Kuzma and Kevin Porter Jr. is exactly why I always rolled my eyes at this "just get some young bodies" strategy as if it was that easy to extend the title window. At this point you just need to bring in a POBO type that's gonna lay out a 2-3 year contending window to sell Giannis on, cuz this offseason might be it.

Might be the best option. Front office doesn't have to go through the PR nightmare of trading Giannis like they did with Khris and can still get a huge haul before Giannis begins to breakdown.

Prez wrote:I'm still a firm believer that both Giannis and Dame have a switch that they can flip for the playoffs. I know with 100% certainty that Giannis has one. The BITW-level two-way destroyer is still in there, it's just a matter of when he chooses to flip that switch, like we saw in the Cup game against OKC. Dame I saw that switch flip in the first two games of the Pacers series before he got hurt. It literally just comes down to health with those two imo.

My concerns outside of health is that Horst seemingly didn't think it was worth getting an athletic C (no, Jericho Sims doesn't count lol) or 2nd ball handler (no, KPJ doesn't count lol) when both are glaring weaknesses that almost certainly will be our downfall when it really matters. Also Doc doesn't seem to grasp what our best lineups are or what lineups shouldn't see the floor.

I think if our full rotation is healthy we have a puncher's chance against almost anybody, but realistically against the likes of Boston/Cleveland and probably NYK, Brook/Bobby are going to get smoked and our lack of a 2nd ball handler is going to get exposed, and Doc won't have the answers in the moment.

If we lose 1 of our big 2 for a significant period we're done. I thought the was the main reason we acquired Dame in the 1st place, was to increase the margin for error. That was eliminated by a combo of Khris' injuries & them giving up on him for Kuzma.

Kuzma's Lakers' team did win it all w/ a big 2, while Kyle was around their 3rd leading scorer (2 players in 10's w/ him being 1). But he was never forced to being any more than that. Can you imagine him, Bobby, Trent, or this version of Brook having to be our 2nd option? That's totally untenable. So we have to get lucky now, have solid role performance, & expect Doc to push the right tactical buttons. That's a tall ask. If we got rid of Doc I'd at least think we'd have a decent chance if Giannis & Dame stayed healthy.

$66M over 3 years for Kuzma >>>> $120 for Ingram.

As far as wasting the window, I don't think we really did. I think we win at least 2 out of 3 with good health and I'm very confident we go b2b if Khris doesn't slip.

Khris was a large part of that mostly tight 6 game series.

No thank you to the fans though??

Maybe hes opting out to re sign for MLE. You know, because when you can make 30 million over 3 years instead of one, you dont pass that up.
I hought of this as well. Even Jrue said hank you and showed appreciation and he was not here that long. Mids was very popular here and nothing.

Paul Imig on Winkler’s podcast today had a phenomenal take in regards to this roster based on this video.

The Bucks built the team around Giannis based on “and then”s and “because”s instead of “therefore”s and “but then”s.

I’ll just be happy if we get to the playoffs this year in relatively good health. Playing the ‘what if’ game of previous seasons with our injury circus has been frustrating.

yup

as long as we avoid the play-in I'm checked out on caring about anything other than health until the 1st round starts

Come on, we have to have at least 1 season after a Dame trade to see what we look like with Giannis surrounded with defenders, and a PG who plays hard.

Philly seems pretty all in with its disastrous roster construction. Any chance they’d bite on a Dame for Maxey swap in the offseason?

I’m not in the anti Dame brigade but it’d be a juicy opportunity to get younger and convince Giannis there is a future here.

It's a lot of change on D to take away and add in a couple new rotation guys... Steph and Butler were all over that confusion... Giannis and Dame and the remaining role players are much better together this year -- from looks.
