Does Kyrie have a player option this summer? He should opt out in June and Dallas goes into next year with Kyrie on a full max (LOL) or no Kyrie at all (double LOL).

He does. LMAO

If AD doesnt make it back this season - and there are rumblings that his injury might be that serious - then the Mavs have almost no ammo to convince Kyrie to stay, especially if there's any alternatives out there that can pay him and compete. That said, none jump to mind

Meanwhile he's got to keep the ship afloat without AD, Luka, Lively and now Gafford. Whos the 2nd best player on the court now - PJ Washington? Klay? Christie? And that's IF Kyrie can stay healthy, a guy who hasnt played 60 games in 5 years. Twitchy small guys tend to fall off quick as well

They've really crushed their own odds to dust just because Luka was a little pudgy

Obviously I have no sources but I suspect it's as simple as Nico really likes AD and doesn't like Luka, at all. Which makes sense if I was making a guest list to a birthday party, not building a basketball team. The napalm the team owner has been spewing is making the move, and entire organization, look awful. To go from a dude in his mid 20s who likes beer a bit too much to a big in his 30s who has a reputation for injuries is just asinine even before one considers the talent gap. Stern might have vetoed the trade, that's how ridiculous it is.

For those that don't follow the NBA I tried to come up with an NFL comparison.

It's like if the Colts traded a 25 year old Peyton Manning fresh off a Super Bowl loss midseason to the Cowboys for a 32 year old Emmit Smith. Then the rationale pushed by the Colts FO was that they wanted to get away from throwing so many times and start focusing on running the ball.

And the Mavs just beat the Heat minus Kyrie! Wild times.
