I’d say Coby and Ayo both have cases as fifth starters on a contender. I have a harder time seeing it with Vuc because center defense is so important.

But yeah, this roster’s trash. Mostly by accident sadly. These line ups they’re trotting out have some intention behind them, though. Which is encouraging.

Coby has no case for a starter on a good team, unreliable offensively and trash defensively.

Eh, I think a team like 2023-24 Minnesota would’ve started him. He’d be fine alongside Cade. He could start in Orlando. It wouldn’t be ideal, but he could keep the seat warm until you upgraded his position.

Because it's the team you choose to follow.

Just because a team is bad doesn't mean you stop caring.

Also, Buzelis.

If he is just keeping a seat warm than he isn't really a true starter on a good team. Also he definitely wouldn't have started over Conley on last years Wolves team, probably wouldn't start over Ivey for this Detroit team (for different reasons), and would only start over KCP on Orlando if KCP is actually washed.

Coby is very clearly meant to be a guy who leads second units off the bench.

None of this is painful for me.

Being in NBA purgatory for years and years in a row is what kills me the most. They have needed to be bad for a while now. I wish they would have traded Vuc and anything else besides Buzelis to bring in future assets. But this front office is a total **** show so expecting zero creativity is the absolute par for the course.

I moved to Miami 3.5 years ago so it’s easy for me to avoid the Bulls when I want. I will always care. But I’ve been dead inside as a Bulls fan for a long time.

This team can’t sign anyone great. So it’s going to be back to attempting to find a STAR or a bunch of semi stars through the draft. When that will be is anyone’s guess, but it’s the only path. That, and you hope Matas is a 2 or 3 on a contender eventually.

You have to start somewhere and that’s why I’m totally fine with unloading Lavine for next to nothing. The experiment was OVER. We didn’t need to watch this team go NOWHERE with Zach any longer. Anyone who doesn’t get it, I feel bad for you as a fellow bulls fan, that you are that lost.

You get Billy out of here asap. Would be great to eject AKME too but I expect nothing from the Reinsdorfs. So for now we dream of Flagg or some other kid to save us. I guess if you think about it….we drafted 1st twice, 2nd twice, and 3rd once in like a 9-10 year span. Since 2008 we haven’t drafted higher than 4th, and don’t forget getting 7th B2B years.

WE ARE DUE BOYS!

It's odd how fast he fell off (which was before the Bulls got him). Was it an injury?

His jumper died after that first year in Sac and never recovered. He shot .402 on 510 3PA, the next year was .361 on 341 3PA and it was only an 11 game difference.

He is a decent rebounder but they needed someone who could stretch the floor and play defense. His jumper fell off and then he couldn't do either. Then Keon Ellis played good-to-great defense and it was difficult to justify Huerter's minutes. Mike Brown eventually shelved Ellis this year but Huerter still only started a third of the games.

Once Brown was gone it was over. Ellis was back in the lineup and Doug Christie looked like a genius for playing a guy who was shooting better and was capable of lock down defense (at times).

Huerter was shooting 1.4 for 4.8 attempts per game.. in 21mpg. Dude was out there letting it fly, but they just weren't falling.

What gets me is he was saying he thinks our system would be better for him, but the dude was getting half of those looks wide open. I assume his issue is all mental and he just lost his confidence but I watched enough of him on the Kings. I just hope his jumper comes around well enough to let us trade him in the offseason. I am sure he'd fare better playing as a deep bench guy on a playoff team, but personally I would rather have Sam Hauser in the role.

EDIT: To be fair I am pretty sure his jumper was fine to start last season, but then tanked after Christmas. I would have to check game logs but I swear he had some decent games to start last year.

EDIT 2: Looked it up and his best 12 three point made games were all until February. He even had a 7-12 heater against Indy. But yeah the latest two of those 12 outings were Feb 7th and 22nd. After that he didn't have more than three made 3s in a game. Dude had 11 games w/ 4 or more threes all of last season.. :-?

EDIT 3: And I had to look it up for this year. 7 games of 4 or more threes made and the last one was on 12/08.. So in the last two years he has had 18 games with 4 or more threes.. out of 108 and all 18 were before this time last year.

EDIT 4: I made myself depressed going down this rabbit hole.

Losing is one thing. Losing because you don't care is another. Losing like the Bulls did @HOME is beyond embarrassing. Have some pride. They should have just gone home at halftime.

I want to be impressed with the Pistons but I can't because the Bulls were that bad.

Derrick Rose was not a tank season. That was luck.

Tanks get us Wendell Carter, Coby, and Patrick Williams.

People play too much NBA 2k and act as a GM. Real rebuilds require a 5 year cycle and not guarantee of success.

Exactly this route takes you to the real NBA hell and most of the time you still won’t build a championship team.

They're in NBA Hell right now

Plus, wendell and Patrick could have been SGA and Hali if we knew how to draft properly. The plan worked fine the execution sucked ass

So just for clarity, this is NOT what rebuilding looks like.

We are just overly emotional over one really, really bad game.

Nothing has changed with the team. We traded one player. That isnt going to cause the dramatic beatdown we experienced last night. Look at our record. We have lost 14 of our last 20 games. We are 2-5 since Zach's last game against Denver. So its actually no different other than we got a beatdown this time.

With that said, a loss like this can really shake things down on the front office. The loss is irrelevant. Its how you lose that turns people off.

Heck I want the team to lose games. You just dont want 40pt losses.

Are there any Killdraftpicks who could end up on the buyout market.

AK could **** up again.

Buzelis.

And just generally the future. There are a few guys on this team who make nice pieces to a rebuild. Now that we are on the path, and if we don’t blow it, we have some tools. Ayo, Matas and Smith are all nice looking young players with attributes any team would like.

Ayo and Smith don’t project to be high dollar contracts and Matas has the talent and fire to be a top 3 on a contender. It’s the first time I’m had a shred of hope in 3 years.

I noticed we'd cut down our PPG allowed down from 120+ back into the high teens. Made sense for some course correction.

I bet we win tonight now.

You guys were caring about this team (besides Matas) before? I stopped that in 2018....I care about a few players and thats about it, the management, owners, coaches, all of it makes it impossible to root for the organization currently

WTF is up with Ayo. He just looks like he doesn't care, which is so dumb because he has a chance to cement a starting role if he played up to his past level.
