The 3PT percentage is probably not sustainable, but other than that if he keeps a similar level of production the rest of the way, that's on par with the best of his draft class. Him dropping to 11 was very lucky for the Bulls. A legit 2-way star potential. Knowing what we know now, he'd very likely go #2 overall in this years draft.

Not that it needs to be a comparison, but I'd say this is better than any 6 game stretch Patrick Williams has ever had if I had some way to easily check.

2021-22 Williams finished the year (5 games): 17 ppg on 54/61/79 with 5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

2022-23 Williams had a 7 game stretch: 13.4 ppg on 50/40/86 with 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

2023-24 Williams had a 8 game stretch: 15.3 ppg on 52/61/76 with 4.6 rebounds and 2 assists.

It's not just stats, it's how he looks on floor. Eye test is important. Today even scrubs are gonna put decent percentages. But not many of them look like players who can play actual basketball.

That last stretch by Pat seems better. The 1st one doesn't meet the game requirement, the 2nd one probably not as good, but without more context, hard to say. The last stretch is probably better. Maybe you could debate Matas's block/steal numbers give him an edge without looking Pat's numbers there and having no context.

Either way, appreciate the fact check.

Noted this in the game thread. Wonder why Matas seems to disappear in second halves. Maybe his minutes drop due to foul issues, but he doesn't often seem to be in foul trouble. Maybe it's a conditioning thing.

Few things giving new guys a longer look and or coaching habits.

Sidenote I’m very happy with the P Williams benching. He been gifted for way too long

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I noticed last night that Jimmy and Green seemed pissed at him scoring. Maybe the defense on him tightens? I’m not really sure.

At this point, I think its more of a balanced attack. Everyone the last few games has taken around the same amount of shots. Even last night Coby led the team with only 12 shots.

But Matas hasnt been allowed to close any of these games so far. In the Miami game he was taken out despite being perfect on the floor. Bully has weird rotations anyhow so you just never know with him.

He's so explosive and big that I think he catches teams off guard at first . They don't have a lot of tape on him and he has no rep outside of loyal bulls fans . Once teams figure him out a little he will have to adapt . His handles are very promising if I was him keep working them handles and get stronger .

There's probably a good chance for him to finish the season averaging double figures. He has more of an "it-factor" than a lot of the guys' we've drafted recently.

He's got that "I'm the best player on the floor at all times" confidence that all star players need. The main thing that a player who may remain nameless but might rhyme with Fatrick Billiams lacks.

Yeah, I've been trying to put my finger on it. It's the combination of his confidence and his actual ability to put the ball in the hoop. Lots of young players have moves, but then the shots don't fall. Now I expect teams will develop a book on him and next season will be tougher. Especially if he's our #2 option. I remember being really high on Ayo as a rook, only for him to take 2 steps back as a sophomore.

His swing attributes were going to be his shooting and getting stronger.

So far, the shooting seems to be there. Excited what he does with an off season to work on the strength.

Hopefully he doesn't do what Lauri and Ayo did. Both guys looked like they lost quickness that hurt their prior advantages.

Oh brother…

How about just hitting summer workouts with KD, Chet, Wemby and the rest of the successful stickmen?

Ugh...Lauri 2.0 in the works. One of his biggest assets is his quickness.

Do you think they didn't gain strength after their first year?
