King KD

Post#1 » by NYG » Tue Feb 11, 2025 3:34 am

Keegan Murray, DeMar DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas, Devin Carter, Earlier of Kings/Spurs '27 1st and '29 Unprotected Kings 1st for Kevin Durant

Suns get one of the better realistic prospects available, a solid veteran in DeRozan, an upgrade at center, a young guard and 2 picks that could turn out to be solid. This is about the best return you could look to get.

Kings keep some assets and if they could land a Thybulle type in free agency to provide some D, then a Sabonis/KD/Thybulle/LaVine/Monk line-up could be explosive. I could see Durant finding the destination acceptable.

So the Kings trade basically their entire future for one year of KD? Not seeing it.

Doncic gets Street clothes and a 1st.
Fox gets Lavine and a bunch of 2nds and late first yet KD lands this haul? Nope. KD doesn't have this value anymore.

Yeah. This x 1000. I do have a KD to Kings thing, but this aint it. Its a buy low with DDR pick rather than this abomination.

If the Suns could do it, so can the Kings! But no, I don't see it either

K.Leonard to Kings
Tyus Jones is offered the starting job in free agency.

DDR/Monk to Clippers

gets 2 value contracts and easier to move

I think you take out the 2029 first and Carter.

Murray and a first with decent roleplayer filler salary feels like a real offer for an expiring player at KD’s age?

It’s hard to value because he’s still so elite, but no idea what value you pay for that.

I think a good starter, a good rotation pieces and 2 high-up side picks is where discussions start with an expiring Durant.

Do you think he is worth remotely close to what he has been traded for in the past?

I would view it as take Keegan and the '29 1st out. Keep the rest of the trade. You don't trade for KD and not keep Keegan.

Probably still enough value, but then you need to decorate a three team trade getting Phoenix what they actually want.. With Keegan, there’s no need for a third team imo

What could be a 3-team deal that makes sense?

None of these aging out stars do anymore with their ridiculous cap killer contracts.

Outside of altruism why would the Suns and Mavs do this?

The kings turn into a contender for a bunch of iffy contracts, middling players and some late picks?

Meanwhile the receiving teams do nothing to address their weaknesses and are just trading for the sake of trading?

Does this trade atleast come with a free "I got robbed worse than Nico" t-shirt?

For Dallas, I’d hope they let Kyrie pick his next home if he decides to leave. Maybe that is a stacked team with KD.

Sac owns two firsts from other teams, so really those two deals don’t have to involve any of their own draft capital after 2026..

That’s what I would think KD is worth as a 37 year old. But maybe his talent matters more than his age?
