Even worse, Johnson was really traded for a 2nd, and to get out of the 2nd apron, and this was needed because Horst grossly overpaid Lopez.

Not for Luka. We need draft picks and young players.

When OKC doesnt win the championship this year, a package of Chet Holmgren/Dort/Aaron Wiggins/Topic (filler) + 2025 (top 6 protected) philly pick, and 2025 Miami pick (2026 unprotected if doesnt convey).

How about Chet, Jaylen Williams, Aaron Wiggins and several picks, especially after Jaylen/Chet struggle a bit with the physicality of the playoffs.

I'm assuming you mean Jalen Williams. It is funny how often people talk about the wrong person with that team.

Yes, I mean fringe all-star wing Jalen (thanks for pointing out the spelling error), not reserve big Jaylin Williams.

Many know this but the Bucks actually drafted KPJ at 1.30 and then sent him to Detroit. Why did we do that? Because they agreed to take Tony Snell and save us 12M the following season. Fast forward 6 years and we are again trading a first round rookie to save a bunch of money the following season.

Coincidentally, KPJ is returned to us as a consolation prize (for another late first if youre going by initial investment, or for nothing at all if youre going by market value.).

One element that was reported on but is not mentioned much here regarding Khris: his teammates may have soured on him. Dont know to what extent that is true, but it was definitely mentioned in at least one article/tweet. Watching Giannis and Brook talk about Khris immediately after the trade, they seemed extremely comfortable with the decision. There was zero shock or dismay, it was like they had already come to terms with it and were ready to move on.

If thats truly how it was, then trading Brook and Bobby instead of Khris would have been a non starter.

I don't know where to put this, so this is as good of a place as any.

Since this is all-star break, I just want to thank MD,PP and whoever else moderates this insanity. I don't know how MD keeps on top of this, but the pay must be outstanding.

Perhaps there's an all-star realgm moderator conference at this time, but if there isn't, you should take a well deserved break for your tireless efforts. Thanks.

It's going to be a tough offseason. Will Trent and Prince sign a vets minimum next year? Will Brook play for less?

If the Bucks have a solid playoff run — good enough where Giannis won’t demand out — we could be on a worse situation actually.

Key is Kuzma being a great fit next to Giannis.

Question is whether Dame Time balls out if not this is the offseason to bail.

Brook is on the Horford track we keep him at a steep discount.

Bobby we let walk or he opts-in to be traded to a desired location, or we extend him if the dollars are right if only to maintain the salary slot.

KPJ, Green and Ajax theoretically make losing one or both of Trent and Prince fine.

Non-taxpayer MLE we use for a significant upgrade somewhere.

Draft assets we can trade the 2031 first and 2032 first swap (I’m not clear whether 2033 could be in play) and 3 seconds.

This is one of the most active sites here, especially given our market size. Many have been here a long time. We still have some of our Aussie friends who came here with Bogut. Not everyone agrees with the decisions made here, it's impossible to make everyone happy. But overall we have good basketball discussion with some benign OT stuff. PP and I are always available via PM to discuss issues.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

give me cap space over years 1-4 of the KPJ experience anyday of the week. He's talented but we are only justifying by hoping he has mature both in the locker room and outside the facility

I assume no news on the giannis front? I assume we will know after the ASB but honestly the only reason i'm watching regular season BBall at this point to watch him rise up the points/rebounds all time ladder and having him get another all-nba.

ETA: He has to play in 24 of the final 29 to be eligible based on my math

One of the things I love about RGM is that we’ve got a group of posters who have been together a long time. There is a ton of institutional knowledge and perspective here. By way of example, I’m generally not into draft and UDFA prospects but I know that the RGM consensus opinion on those type of guys will generally be better than whatever the team does on that front.

- Pray that Bobby picks up his player option.
- Re-sign Brook to the 2-yr $20 million Horford contract.
- Convert Rollins to a standard multi-year, partially guaranteed contract if not done in the next couple weeks.

Beyond that, it's anyone's guess what we will or should do in the offseason considering so much likely depends on the outcome of the playoffs. Try and work a team friendly extension with Bobby if/when he opts out, because I don't see the logic for a team with our limited depth/personnel to just let quality rotation players walk for nothing. KPJ opts out as well if he has anywhere near the season/playoffs we should all hope for, so you're in the same boat with him as well (no Bird rights though). Should have access to at least the tax-payer MLE, but do you use that to possibly retain Trent or go after someone in a pretty barren free agent market?

- Tradeable picks: 2025 DET/GS/PHX 2nd (currently #45), 2031 1st, 2031 2nd, 2032 pick swap, 2032 2nd
- $163 million committed to 10-players next season, but realistically could be whittled down to ~$140-ish with a Pat salary dump.

Still a pretty bleak outlook if we don't at least make a Conference Finals run here. You're not opening up any significant cap space even if you relinquish all cap holds, trade Pat, and just have Giannis/Dame/Kuzma's salary on the books (would only leave you $10-12 mil under). You still have incredibly limited draft capital to trade, and we dumped arguably the only young asset (AJ) that you could bank on some real internal growth with. There's a window to duck under the cap, re-sign Brook/Bobby to lower salaries, and use the full MLE to nab a solid starter, so that seems like the best case scenario at this point. Otherwise it's blow it up time, and a Giannis trade to follow in the next 8-12 months.

I much rather sign trent whose only 26 over ajax is not even in doubt.Trent brings much much more to the table than ajax does and even ajaxs D isnt that special.Id be beyond pissed if they kept ajax n let trent walk

Dudes only 25 maybe he has matured.Players make mistakes n learn from them.
He is probably our best ball handler we have had in a long time n 1 of the quickest dudes also.Has all the tools to be either our bu point guard or our starting 2.
I may be in the minority but at 25 id take hom over a overpriced dude anytime.
Bucks have been searching for a BU pg for 3 years now.

Don't we run into the same problem with Trent as we always do? He's a minimum contract and he's outplayed it while we're not able to give him a suitable raise but another team can.
