With the Non Tax MLE you're looking at guys like Naji Marshall, Sadiq Bey, Jalen Smith, Goga B., Derek Jones Jr, Jonas Val, etc.

The best option is probably a guy like Max Christie. A high 2nd Rd pick with some skill who the Lakers gave an opportunity to.

We should do the same. Let Bobby walk and play Tyler Smith next year... Or now really. We gotta start taking some chances on unknown commodities.

Even worse, Johnson was really traded for a 2nd, and to get out of the 2nd apron, and this was needed because Horst grossly overpaid Lopez.

I think we can also use the MLE as a trade exception if we are feeling frisky

what are the chances you break it up to retain guys like kpj and gtj and get them into bird rights situations kind like we did with bobby. maybe even use it on 3 guys in order to offer more than the vet min deals weve been stuck with

i think lopez is coming back until the end but having the nontax mle to resign your own guys if you like them seems like the best use to me.

Can we wait to gift Tyler Smith minutes until he's good enough to earn a starting job on the Herd?

If Kuzma is actually a switchable defender we can rely on that helps us so much.

Just being athletic makes you a much better defender then someone who isn't. Yeah Khris was a smart defender but there is only so much he can do vs younger faster wings/guards.

Dont know to what extent that is true, but it was definitely mentioned in at least one article/tweet. Watching Giannis and Brook talk about Khris immediately after the trade, they seemed extremely comfortable with the decision. There was zero shock or dismay, it was like they had already come to terms with it and were ready to move on.

If thats truly how it was, then trading Brook and Bobby instead of Khris would have been a non starter.

Another follow up to this that I've been thinking about a lot - Nathan Marzion posted a screenshot of his Twitter DM's shortly after the trade, and on January 12th someone DM'ed him something along the lines of "I know someone in the Kuzma family and they're all saying he's going to Milwaukee"

The G league is a disaster and he's barely 20. You gift him opportunity, not a starting job. I know we haven't seen it in a while so it's foriegn to us but he might even outperform his contract. Young players make leaps all the time.

Or we can sign some journeyman veteran who might fill the role we intended for them to for a minimum or portion of the MLE. How exciting.

Odds are about 10% Johnson hits Kuzma's production in the NBA. Kuzma has been a relatively decent player in the NBA. Most players like Johnson never escape the bench and end up in Europe.

If the Bucks have a solid playoff run — good enough where Giannis won’t demand out — we could be on a worse situation actually.

Key is Kuzma being a great fit next to Giannis.

Question is whether Dame Time balls out if not this is the offseason to bail.

Brook is on the Horford track we keep him at a steep discount.

Bobby we let walk or he opts-in to be traded to a desired location, or we extend him if the dollars are right if only to maintain the salary slot.

KPJ, Green and Ajax theoretically make losing one or both of Trent and Prince fine.

Non-taxpayer MLE we use for a significant upgrade somewhere.

Draft assets we can trade the 2031 first and 2032 first swap (I’m not clear whether 2033 could be in play) and 3 seconds.
I want Bobby to opt in so we can trade him. We need a center like Brook
who is faster and who is agile and can defend the post area. So it's either trade Bobby or use Brooks salary spot which I don't know what that woud actually be worth.

3 vet mins, hit on 2. Got two rotation players. Pretty good. Dumped the one that didn't hit and traded for 2 more.

Probably the same approach to next season's roster. Maybe an entirely new crop of 4-5 vet mins going into the season.

It had MBBOT going nuts over there (as well as here) if I remember correctly.

Brook needs to have his minutes, $ and role reduced next season. Just seeing the athleticism upgrade this trade deadline, imagine getting a young version of Larry Sanders on this squad. That’s what we need to be focused on, take multiple swings at finding that and this team is special the next few years

Just asking, not claiming he should be a starter or anything just wondering if Sims is going to play at all or was he just a acquisition to get under the second apron ?

Kuzma played better D last night than Middleton has all season. Was a breath of fresh air in that regard.

Dame
Trent
Kuzma
Giannis
Brook

KPJ
Green
Bobby

Decent rotation if KPJ can build on his performance last night and if Green's shot comes back around by playoff time. At this point Ajax should be benched. Love his hustle but there's no way he should be getting minutes over Trent, Green, or KPJ going forward.
