If the East was a normal conference you'd be right. But since it isn't, who knows. In the West they would've been lottery bound since Christmas.

The teams that lose in the play-in are in the lottery? Do they lose ping pong balls for getting in to the play-in(as opposed to a team with the same record that didn't get into the play-in)?

Just need to get the 1st overall along with number 11 and its on.

Heck, pick any few players you want at each spot and youre looking solid.

Got any background or additional context that helps me excuse away the abysmal shooting efficiency? I like the first step and speed with which he moves around the court, but man if he can never become an average shooter what's the path?

Theo Maledon vibes

I like the quick twitch very much. Passing numbers look top percentile in class.

Need to see more.

I watched the Jordan Classic and I was very impressed.

I try not to judge too harshly on young guys, but I do need efficiency.

I will need to spend more time watching to identify the issues.

No joke, we are so lucky we are not in the West.

Def dig the quick twitch and his passing chops.

I'm seeing a 4 year track record of abysmal 3 pt shooting even when playing in Frances lower leagues. Hasn't crossed 30% threshold yet. And I imagine his finishing at the rim is sub-par too given his low FG%s. Was hoping to find prior seasons with more encouraging percentages. IDK

Teams that lose play in are in lottery.

looks good...

Yall catch that dribble hand off set? Running the hand off, PF flows to the basket for the quick pass inside, and the center rolls into the space it created for the 3. Really neat little action.

Best case scenario is that our lotto balls are the magic ones that move up, and we pick somewhere in the 1-4 range and then get GS pick (11-16)

We draft one of the big 4 (Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Edgecomb) and then see what solid player we can get out of the GS pick, Jaime, and then either Terry’s expiring or Wiggins.

However if we get Harper or Edgecomb, Wiggins may be a piece they want to keep.

Herro
Edgecomb
Wiggins
Bam
Ware

With pieces to add something to.

It’s so important for us to hit in the lottery, if possible.

Would be fun to know how high we can get with 11/14/Jaime/Rozier Expiring.

Im thinking Dylan Harper with our pick;)

Derik Queen with the GSW pick?

As for your last bit, I think that package could get you the fifth pick maybe. Wed miss out on the current big 4 though.

Consider me intrigued

A little more on a Euro guard prospect that I have a hunch might just have lotto talent:

Sergio de Larrea is 19 year old Spanish 6'6 PG playing for a strong/deep Valencia squad against high level competition in the top Spanish league (ACB) and Eurocup.

Read on Twitter

Playing limited minutes (12 mpg) but making the most of them with per 36 numbers of 16.2 pts, 7.8 ast, 6.7 reb, 2.2 stocks on excellent efficiency -- 50.5% FG, 45% 3pt, 76% ft [63% ts; 60% efg]

A little more context on how well Sergio is playing on a very good and deep Valencia team:

- Sergio is 3rd on the team in points per minute (and also 3rd on the team in Usg%) in ACB games
- Sergio is tied for first on the team in points per play (1.4) in ACB games
- Sergio has the 4th best DRTG in ACB games on the Valencia team among the regular rotation players as the youngest player on the squad

On tape, I see a jumbo PG with real playmaking chops and full court vision that has a pure stroke (a little slow), solid athleticism, some defensive versatility and a lack of glaring weaknesses. He doesn't seem to have a very explosive first step, but he gets to his spots on the court and makes some great plays.

If his size and 3 ball are as legit as they seem this season, then I'm not sure what's holding Sergio back from being a lotto talent.

Here's a statistical profile comparison to some other recent young prospects that played in high level European leagues and Giddey (I believe Sergio has faced better competition than the rest this season):

https://www.tankathon.com/players/compare?players=sergio-de-larrea--ben-saraf--zaccharie-risacher--nikola-topic--josh-giddey

The sample is low with his mpg so hard to know how real the 3 ball is. IMO it's pretty critical for his 3 ball to be real in order for him to distinguish his trajectory from past young Euro guards like Maledon, Balmero, etc. Unfortunately, Sergio is now out for a few weeks with a dislocated left shoulder.
