I value people's opinions, even though as fans we are frequently off base. Those opinions are interesting to me. But when someone makes themselves the essence of their post time and time again, it becomes a pain. Like litter on the sidewalk. Feeling compelled to remind everyone how "right" you are just underscores your inability to be convincing. "Oh, I didn't get it the first 23 times you said it, but the 24th time - I get your point!" Repeating yourself at every available opportunity does not add gravitas. It becomes not about the point you are trying to make, but rather the repetition that holds no value for anyone.
People aren't annoyed by your opinion. Or mine. Which is why most people don't react to any given opinion. People are annoyed by the repetition. Repetition does not convince or validate. It just annoys.
It is not my intention to push people's buttons when I post.
I am genuinely surprised when some of my opinions & comments elicit the level of Must be exhausting being you and Did - Insert player name - kick your dog? type of responses.
Some people just don't like some of my opinions off the top, those people then get upset when there ends up being truth in those opinions in which they did not like. Their ad hominen responses tell all.
I think that if I was simply just saying repetitive things that had no truth to them, you would not see these type of responses and to this level.
There are people who don't like that I am critical of Dame. So then last night when the Bucks have one of their more quality and fun wins of the season with Dame in street clothes, ol rila came along in the post-game thread and said.
This team is fun without Dame
That was all I said that set things off. And to be fair, it's hard to gauge intent or tone on an internet message board. But my comment was kind of a wink wink tongue in cheek sort of thing. I was not actually trying to push anyone's buttons or get people legitimately upset. I didn't think that the comment would.
Plus earlier in the day yesterday I had said that Dame would never miss the all star game. Dame is the type of guy who would sit out actual games to be fresh for all star weekend .
Then later in the day after I made that comment, the news came down that Dame was not suiting up for the Wolves game. Dame, would however be ready to go for all star weekend.
So in hindsight, I had already pushed the buttons, even thought was not my intent.
I honestly thought my post would be - Like you said - a glance and scroll post. I guess I was wrong.
