Markelle Fultz, Kings Agree To Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Feb 13, 2025 3:39 am

Markelle Fultz has agreed to sign with the Sacramento Kings. Fultz has not played this season after coming off his contract with the Orlando Magic.

The Kings have been searching for a point guard following their trade of De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs.

Do they need more point guards? They already have Zach Lavine, Malik Monk, and DeRozan who all need the ball.

Non of the players you mentioned are PG's... so yes, they need depth at that position. "Needing the ball" doesn't make you a PG, it means you need someone to get you the ball.

Another Sam Hinkie gem. Trust the process...

Hinkie didn’t draft Fultz you moron. The fake Twitter guy traded the farm for Fultz. Hinkie said in interviews he would’ve kept the picks and selected Tatum.

Hinkie... is that you?

No need to get your panties twisted because the guy assumed the GM had a hand in drafting a bust. Let's keep it civil.

It wasn't that long ago that the Kings had Fox and Haliburton. Wild to know that they have squandered both away.

Haliburton (18/4/9) became Sabonis (20/14/6)... that's as fair a deal as you can find in the NBA, and it defied the old mantra of never trading a small for a big. I think SAC came out on top. It's tough because I love both of these players.

Fox (25/5/6) became LaVine (24/5/4 on greater efficiency) along with two 1sts and four 2nds... both players are overpaid and often injured, but LaVine is on the back half of his deal and Fox hasn't signed his next one yet. Hopefully SAC plans to flip LaVine in the summer, but either way they came out ahead. It's tough because I don't really care for either of these players.

He's a solid bench PG, and don't really have another option since Carter's been struggling. He's good all around, can pass, rebound, defend, score at the basket....shoots a fairly high % on 2 pointers, just can't shoot the 3s with that shoulder of his.

Squandered was probably not the best term because as you pointed out, Haliburton became Sabonis and he is a damn good player. I wouldn't have said this last season but now, I agree...I think Sac probably came out on top of that deal. I hated seeing Domas get dealt as he was my favorite player but it was one of those trades that worked both ways. Id take Fox over Lavine any day regardless of efficiency but when one adds 2 FRPs and 4 2nds...pretty decent haul if either of those FRPs are in the lotto or even mid round.

Yep, I'd rather have most players over LaVine on that contract. But Fox on that next deal might be just as bad. Either of these players would be great at around $25m.
