KD didn't ask the Suns to trade him. But obviously the Suns were seriously considering it.

He vetoed the trade to GSW.

However, he has to ask what's his future in Phoenix.

Apparently he didn't object while all these rumors about him being traded were circulating? So he made have had some level of acceptance of being traded, just not back to GSW?

He's eligible for an extension in the summer.

Unless the Suns go on a tear and make a big playoffs run, it may be time to move on.

So while the Warriors didn't get him, he may not be back next season in Phoenix.

KD's reasons for not wanting to come back to Warriors are obvious. There's the Draymond Green thing and while I doubt KD would ever admit it being a factor in not wanting to come back, human nature tells us it has to be a factor. Also, he's on record not being a fan of Kerr's system and that's understandable too. I also think the idea of coming back with the current roster was unappealing because he probably felt they wouldn't be that successful. KD has shown he only wants to be in situations where he plays on teams loaded with talent.

I will say this. If the Warriors continue to look good and improve with Jimmy? In the off-season KD might be a little more open to the idea of joining Golden State, especially if the Warriors were willing to trade Draymond Green.

A lot of the details would have to fall in place, but it isn't too crazy to think KD might re-consider the Warriors in the off-season. A team with Curry, Butler, & Durant with anything at all around it would be tough for anyone to beat.

Maybe he'll change his mind this summer.

Warriors won’t be able to swing it though

Only chance is if he plays out his contract and hits free agency but that's not until 2027 and he takes like a tax payer MLE.

Otherwise, Phoenix will try to maximize the return on trading him, though he can request certain destinations, based on whether he would re-sign with them.

If he really wants to ring chase, it would be to go to a team like Houston or OKC, which have the assets to acquire him from Phoenix. Also should have cap space to pay him.

At this point though, any team that he goes to, he'll be looked at as a ring chaser and even if he was able to win one, a lot of fans will never let him forget that he couldn't lead a team to a title, had to join the Warriors, failed in Brooklyn, likely will fail in Phoenix.

Draymond, Moody, Buddy, and 1 pick and a swap can likely get it done... especially since KD would be expiring... maybe 1 pick might be required

Would require a lot of tap-dancing to get around 2nd apron rules, which are crazy and punitive

The problem with Durant is that he's a Robin desperately trying to prove he's Batman.
I think in the final analysis, that's what separates him from Curry, Lebron, Jordan, Hakeem, Magic, Bird, (kobe and shaq were both alphas). He might be the greatest player ever to win a title but, was never perceived as the team leader.

KD may not want to play with vets that challenge him on and off the court, hence the line 'prefers playing with a younger roster'. He seems like a dude that can't take criticism and just wants to play whatever basketball style he wants.

It's his world, everything and everyone needs to fit into it.

It's early but the Suns are losing to a Spurs team without Wemby.

He's probably going to want to leave the Suns this summer either way, unless they have a big turnaround and they have a very good playoffs run. The way they're playing now, that doesn't seem likely.

Watching the Suns at Raptors.

Suns have been trailing most of the game.

They make a run to close it to like 3 or 4 points.

KD isn't getting shots in the 4th quarter. It's all Booker or other players.

Remember that he had that blowup with Draymond demanding the ball.

He seems checked out for a winnable game but now Raptors are up 15 points with a minute left.

It was like 3 or 4 points under 5 minutes.

Unless the Suns do well the rest of the season, including getting in and doing well in the playoffs, he's going to look to leave.

Dude has totally checked out. At 6'11" and 240 lbs, he's the biggest little bitch in the world. Once his career is done, maybe he'll finally get therapy to address his litany of mental malfunctions. What a waste of talent.

Some don't know sports, there's a reason the players were pissed when Marshawn didn't get the ball on the goal line! KD should be pissed when he doesn't get the ball on the suns, he's the mismatch!

I really don't get the negativity directed towards KD by the Warriors fans here.
