Glad Ryan dug into the numbers. Love really wasn't as bad as people labeled him this year. This WR group needs an infusion of talent and guys to internally develop. Make or break it year for a lot of that core group.

Acmepackingcompany.com statistical take on FA Recievers:

https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2025/2/13/24364608/2025-nfl-free-agency-wide-receiver-advanced-stats-green-bay-packers-targets

For this exercise, we’re going to use adjusted yards per route run and compare them to the league average.

Packers Receivers

+481.7 adjusted yards vs. average: Jayden Reed (11th among 91 qualifiers)
+169.2: Christian Watson (34th)
+88.3: Dontayvion Wicks (42nd)
-110.6: Romeo Doubs (52nd)

I want you to look at the chart below. It shows the distribution of all qualifying receivers in this metric. The bar highlighted is Jayden Reed.

Top Free Agent Receivers

+328.6: Stefon Diggs (18th)
+328.1: Keenan Allen (19th)
+295.2: DeAndre Hopkins (25th)
+290.3: Amari Cooper (26th)
+261.1: Tee Higgins (28th)
+240.5: Chris Godwin (32nd)
+111.1 Diontae Johnson (40th)
-503.5: Darius Slayton (77th)

Other Receiver Options

+418.6: Davante Adams (14th)
+299.9: Deebo Samuel (24th)
+241.7: Cooper Kupp (31st)

It would be silly not to consider some of these options who aren’t technically free agents quite yet, too. The New York Jets and Davante Adams seem to be headed for a divorce, as the Jets have told quarterback Aaron Rodgers that they’re prepared to part ways. At the moment, Adams carries a $38.3 million cap hit in 2025, making him a prime candidate to be a cap casualty. According to the numbers, Adams would be the most productive free agent if he were to be released.

I'd like to see similar adjusted numbers for every QB.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Barnwell on the Packers trading for Garrett.

It would be out of character for general manager Brian Gutekunst to go after any sort of veteran player at this point of their careers. Over the past few seasons, he has rebuilt the Packers into the league's youngest team while focusing heavily on the draft. When the Packers did make a splash in free agency last year, they went for a pair of players who were about to enter their age-26 seasons in Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney. I don't see them abandoning that philosophy right now.

And yet, if anybody should know about the benefits of adding a Hall of Fame-caliber player in the prime of their careers, wouldn't it be the Packers? This is the same organization that signed Reggie White as a 31-year-old and saw the Hall of Fame edge rusher rack up 68.5 sacks over six seasons. Green Bay signed Charles Woodson as a 29-year-old and got four Pro Bowl appearances and two first-team All-Pro nods out of the defensive back. Both those players were free agents as opposed to trade additions, which makes this deal less likely, but Garrett might be the sort of player who would cause Gutekunst to break his rules.

Looking at that list of WR and given the Packers needs, it makes all the sense in the world to sign a top WR and trade whatever it takes for Garrett.

Getting a WR and Garrett would be fine. Fuller, CB, from Miami just came available. Id be down then for them to draft all linesman and find those next gems.

Signing a 32 year old WR for big money is a bad idea and I’m sure Gutey knows this. The last 32 year old (age at the beginning of the season) to have a 1000 yard season was Larry Fitzgerald back in 2015. Highest yardage this year was Keenan Allen with 744 yards. Deandre Hopkins had an almost identical season 2 years ago at 31 to Devante’s this year and then fell off a cliff.
I love Devante but focus on “what will be” instead of “what was” when signing a free agent. He might have 1 or 2 good years left but don’t expect prime Devante back at all, not happening.

I don't think anyone suggested signing Adams for big money. But at a reasonable 2 year deal he'd be a solid addition and a valuable mentor to the others.

I'm targeting Higgins or a move for someone like DK before bringing back Davante. I'm open to the idea, but only at a relative discount. I'm not convinced he's a #1 WR anymore.

Obviously, I'd prefer a move for Cosby/Garrett before I'd look at any WR.

I wouldn't mind 2, if the Jets blow it up and put Garrett Wilson on the block.

Demovsky reporting the Packers will likely move on from Jaire Alexander this offseason either through trade or by straight up releasing him

I can see the merit of moving on. Given Jaire's history of not being able to play, who would be a candidate to take him in a trade, and under what conditions?

Stokes and King too, lost enough athletic ability following successive injuries where they weren't the same as their first days in GB. Is that part of the concern for Ja? (Trading back for King over Watt is a separate problem)

I cant imagine they'd get very much, a late round pick at most. Ultimately I think he ends up getting released, the bigger question to me is if it's a normal release(freeing up just under $7 million) or a post June 1 release

I've all but accepted that they'll probably release Jaire and he'll be playing for the Vikings next season.

I thought we'd determined that it made no financial sense to release Alexander this year? I don't know the numbers, just going from discussion here a couple weeks ago. Was that not correct?
