Hornets Have Not Filed Protest Over Rescinded Mark Williams Trade With Lakers

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Feb 16, 2025 12:52 am

As part of his annual All-Star Weekend media availability, NBA commissioner Adam Silver was asked about the rescinded trade between the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers. Silver said that the Hornets have not filed any form of formal protest over the Lakers rescinding the trade.

Los Angeles and Charlotte had agreed to a trade that was set to send center Mark Williams from the Hornets to the Lakers. The Hornets were set to receive Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2031 first-round pick and a 2030 first-round pick swap.

The Lakers ultimately failed Williams when they did a post-trade physical. Los Angeles reportedly had multiple concerns after putting Williams through a physical.

No formal protest they rang the nba and were told pretty much nothing will happen or it was very unlikely and thus they did nothing.. not worth the embarrassment.

Hornets: We protest the trade
Silver: No you're not
Hornets: Why not?
Silver: We're sending Giannis to the Lakers this offseason, keep this on the down low and I'll make sure you get a pick out of it

Looks even if you say the luka trade was uneven they got AD and a pick and a very good player in Max Christie on a good contract. So it was top 10 player for top 5 player with extras.. What could they give for giannis lol and no LeBron is 40 with a no trade clause so come on.. Giannis Luka LeBron would be fun but it's salary cap hell unless LeBron took a big pay cut which maybe but they have nooone to trade for Giannis.. I think Austin Reeves is a very good player and has plenty of trade value but not giannis trade value lol.. I think the Luka trade was probably short 1 to 2 unprotected firsts.. A giannis trade would be short everything

I knew it was just some hand waving to try save face on the part of the Hornets.
