Tonje is like Willie Simms except good at basketball

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Tonje is legit. don't think anyone expected this level of production from him. Makes everyone basically their own role and play to their strengths... Blackwell is going to be another great. Every part of his game has vastly improved. His shot making is what sets him apart tho. He can make every shot and make it through contact.
Lastly - GILMORE IS THE GOAT.
On Wisconsin.

Man, it kinda sucks that they're good yet again so they can't fire Gard and have a chance to be good again.

Then you didn't watch last year either, we just have guys who can make a shot with people in their face!

So glad we won and don't have to talk about how stupid the refs were! Plain and simple , officiating today was terrible. Shouldn't have been a flagrant one, half time guys saying that it was a shot to the groin, didn't mention that Mcgee was about a foot shorter , if he was 6'5 it would have been a shot to the stomach and a play on! Seriously , if that's not a flagrant on the break away then I don't know what is!
These guys are so fun to watch, nice to have a go to guy when we need a bucket! Once again I'm going to apologize to Gilmore , a couple of nice blocks and did some things that don't show up in a stat sheet!

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
The 2nd half was offensively the ceiling of best case scenario. I was skeptical that Purdue would be able to stop Wisconsin when they attacked the basket and that wound up playing out as UW was 20-22 on 2-pt attempts.
They've obviously had really good wins before, really good road wins, but I can't think of how many times I've watched them play where I thought they both played really well but also still had plenty of reasons to think they could play better. Expecting a game like this regularly out of Tonje isn't realistic but conversely Crowl was largely a non-factor, they shot 22 2's and 30 3's and in this game those numbers probably should've been flipped, McGee gets the egregious ejection and only plays 7 minutes and Klesmit continues to shoot poorly from outside (but continues to do everything else well). I don't know how this season ends but one thing I'm pretty comfortable saying at this point is that this team has a ceiling that we haven't seen from a UW team in a while.

Watching Utah and Kansas. I wonder if Storr is still cool with his decision. Probably, is my guess. It's still Kansas. But he went from being the main dude to the 4th guard on a worse team.

He got a cool $1M supposedly, so I'm guessing he's not too upset by anything. Probably quite a bit more than he'll be making professionally overseas anytime soon.
No sour grapes, but man, in retrospect am I oh-so-happy he decided to leave. I don't think Tonje would be here otherwise, and we know how that's turned out

Storr was fun, but he’s just not a good basketball player.
Tonje’s game is less “exciting”, but he’s just a ton better.

Storr is dripping with athletic ability and potential, but just never figured out how to be a student of the game. Tonje is more skilled and miles ahead in the BBIQ department.
This is a very unselfish, cohesive team we've got. You don't know who might kill you on any given night. If Blackwell/Tonje/Klesmax all click in March, this team could legitimately go the distance. Super fun to watch.

He got his bag which I'm sure is all that mattered..and that's fine. Though if the rumors of him asking for a raise mid-season are true than it's quite a bit less fine.ReasonablySober wrote:Watching Utah and Kansas. I wonder if Storr is still cool with his decision. He's more athlete than basketball player
only a fan, only an opinion

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
What’s funny is that Kansas fans nothing Storr. $1M means nothing, and they had no expectations for or of him. OTOH they haaaaaate Hunter Dickinson, which is hilarious. Their team makes no sense; it’s like everything that can go wrong when you just buy guys.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
If Storr declared, I imagine he'd have been a late 1st, or at worst early 2nd, to compel a guarantee of several million over a few years. So he ultimately lost $ coming back to college for NIL (which fittingly Europeans use to represent zero in sports scores).

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Tonje has more points this season than Storr has minutes played
My guess is Wisconsin will be ranked somewhere between 10-13 tomorrow. They'll be ahead of Kentucky, Arizona and Purdue, they might be ahead of MSU, might be ahead of St. John's (definitely will if they lose today) and might jump Memphis (will definitely be ahead of them if they lose today).

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
One of the other reasons yesterday's win was so big is that it increased the likelihood they play their first round in Milwaukee. Right now they're competing with Iowa State, Purdue and Marquette to get one of the 2 spots to go to Milwaukee and now I'd say they're probably 2nd in that pecking order behind Iowa State and would probably be in Milwaukee if Selection Sunday was today

Marquette can't play in Milwaukee. Teams aren't allowed to play in their home stadiums for the 1st round
