CWhite to Det in June
Let's assume Det makes the playoffs and loses their pick. They'll want to keep improving, I'd think
Chi REALLY needs to reset the team, add cap space/picks and tank next year
CWhite to Det for Sasser, the Tor 2025 2nd and a future 2nd
Det gets a nice combo guard-his value is hurt by being an expiring, but he's a nice with with Ivey and Cade
Bulls save $10 million in 2025-26 cap space (I think we should clear salary and go into the 2025-26 season with at least $20 million in cap space, to facilitate deals/add picks), get a look at Sasser and add a good 2nd.
My plan includes the Bulls buying out Vuc (assuming we can't deal him) plus JCarter and going into the season with
Ayo/Ball/Sasser
#7 pick/Huerter
Matas/Terry
PWill/Phillips
Smith/Collins
Plus the Tor 2nd. I REALLY hope we don't overpay Giddy (anything over $15 million)
We do this, end up bottom 5 and have unlimited 2026 cap space with some young guys-that's better than another Playin visit
Thoughts?

Don’t see a need for Detroit unless we can’t re-sign Beasley. He says he wants to stay, but you never know.

Orl was my first thought, but Det can offer $10 million in space in my deal. Maybe they don't want to do it

Re: CWhite to Det in June
that is selling White low. I would ask for Thompson or 2026 or 2027 1st (2025 going to Wolves).
White would be a great fit for Pistons. He can play with either Cade or Ivey and in certain situations you could run out
a lineup of something like Cade/White/Ivey/Thompson/Duren. Getting 18 ppg in 30 mins off the bench every night is
def doable and would greatly help the Pistons depth and win games.

Re: CWhite to Det in June
Detroit would not trade Thompson for White straight up let alone including a future first round pick. Perhaps Detroit would consider a future first round pick for White, but I am not even sure about this. Sasser and a couple second round picks seems about right to me if Chicago wants/needs cap space.

There’s no way that trade offer would ever be a consideration from Detroit. White doesn’t have nearly that value

Re: CWhite to Det in June
In terms of value,
Ausar > Coby White > Sasser
You can surely find a middle ground, but the first thing here would be gauging how much is Coby White expecting to extend. I'd be willing to put an offer if he'd re-sign for close to 20 million max, beyond that good luck in free agency.

Honestly speaking, this is a very good trade. That being said, Detroit will have;
A hopefully fully recovered Jaden Ivey
Malik Beasley, who went to the GM and requested not to be traded.
Cunningham, obviously
Dennis Schröder will be a free agent, but he’s friends with Beasley. Plus I can’t really see him being a top free agent. It’s more likely he’ll choose stability over trying to test the market
So realistically speaking, Coby White could/would wind up being the 4th or 5th guard
It wouldn’t clear money, but some form of Coby White to Orlando for Cole Anthony gets thrown around a lot. I also feel Chicago could get a better return for White than what Detroit would offer.
And not to keep bringing this up, but the Bulls should’ve already traded Nikola Vučević. They need to get whatever they can for him in the offseason.
You can’t half effort a tank, and the Bulls aren’t going to be fixed in one offseason.
For Detroit though, I’m more interested in Lonzo Ball since you gave him the extension

I think Cade can guard the 3, so White might be a good investment for Det to keep improving. White could turn into an insurance policy, but he's a great kid who works hard and should fit in

Re: CWhite to Det in June
Hey, OP, I do *like* Coby White, don’t get me wrong. Solid player and by all account a solid teammate.
He won’t be cheap to sign though, and Detroit has to think long term. I don’t know what kind of money it will take to re-sign Malik Beasley, but that’s our first priority. We certainly aren’t getting him for 6 mil again after the year he’s had.
Cade gets the big dollars starting next year. Assuming we keep him, Ivey starts his second deal the year after that, as does Duren. Young teams get expensive fast. Investing in Coby White when we already have two young guys and at least one, maybe two, vets we like probably just can’t happen. White’s going to get a pretty big contract — the floor is probably 4/100 and it could be more.
Now if Langdon gets ballsy and trades Ivey for a bigger forward… then we’re probably interested.

I think if a trade of White to Detroit was likely to happen, this past trade deadline would've been the timing for it

Detroit wouldn't trade either Thompson or the 1st on their own for Coby let alone both.
Coby doesn't have the value you think he has, a protected first would be the absolute best we could hope for.

I think the Bulls likely try and hold out for a mid to late 1st for Coby.
Greatest Bulls of All Time: 1. TONY SNELL 2. Jordan 3. Pippen 4. Rose 5. Gilmore

I agree he’d be a solid pickup, but I feel like Detroit would focus on bigger needs. For example Tim Hardaway Jr has started 51/51 games, even before Ivey got injured. As well as just increasing the talent/depth of the frontcourt

I have Orl as the best spot for him, and we can get a 1st from them
Maybe ATL sends the LAL pick?
I could see Indy/Minny/Dal also possibly interested

Re: CWhite to Det in June
Coby White is a good player, but I don't think he moves the needle for them at all. For teams in Detroit's position, they have their star in Cade, they have their good role players in Thompson, Ivey, Beasley, Duren.
What they need is to continue developing their homegrown talent and then be on the lookout for a player that can actually help them become a top team in the east.

Re: CWhite to Det in June
Coby White have no place in Detroit.
We have Beasley and Ivey at SG, Cade and possibly Schroder are the other 2 guards with Sasser being a solid 5th guard, as an undersized SG.
We need one more Forward, we have Tobias, Ausar and we hope Holland develops, but we're good at the guard spot. Fontecchio doesn't fit and Tobias shouldn't be starting anymore in a couple of years.
The full MLE.
