Without being quick to judge, I'm guessing there is an American bias that the face of the league needs to be American or at least American presenting, which I can accept.

Personally, I don't think of Mitchell as the "face of the league" type of guy but if he can somehow take Cleveland to new heights as the clear number, have crazy playoff performances and win the chip, there is some potential because he does have flair to his game.

Your Mitchell assessment is spot on though; he has to win a lot more. Tatum has a ring but he lacks the personality. I think if Luka was American he would already be the face of the league. Ant could get there but his off the court stuff may start to turn certain corporate entities off. He needs some condoms in the worst way.

Yeah I’m not sure he’s a lock to be a dominant MVP caliber player in the league, which is kind of needed for a face of the league role.

Wemby already has a shoe deal with Nike. With his own logo. Big ad campaign, too. And he's an ambassador for Louis Vuitton. What may have applied to big men before Wemby has already broken through.

Mitchell might be washed at that point. Ja is a good player but not a superstar, and already completely blew his marketability. Ant is good, but I don’t think he has a very marketable personality, and he’s always been overrated. I can’t see him getting on a guy like SGA’s level.

Totally disagree about your take on Antman. The guy is super charismatic, the media loves him and he already acted in a movie (did a very good job in it) and has the whole sprite campaign.

The only thing holding Antman from blowing up is being a legit top 3 player in the league, imo.

Mitchell and Ja, right off the bat, have no business on that list. Tatum isn't really a "face of the league" type, either. Ant is losing traction as well. Not really sure what DM is on about, to he honest.

Ant certainly has the charisma, but he isn't really good enough to make it happen right now and that's becoming clearer. He isn't really a superstar at the moment and that undercuts his utility in the role of any kind of face, IMHO.

In 5 years? Like... eh. This isn't a wise thing for Mitchell to have said.
