I like the Celtics chances of getting another title in the next 2-3 years and that will solidify Jaylen as a HOFer and put #7 in the rafters. If he can’t get that second title things become open to debate.

Still on the team in 5 years? That’s a very long time in the NBA. I’ll say no. At that point Tatum will be 32 and Brown 33 and the team would likely be looking to get younger.

With the luxury tax seeming like it's going to increase very favorably over the next few years, JT and JB's contracts won't look that bad when a payroll will have to be constructed. In two years the lux tax threshold is probably gonna be close to 200mil. Having JT, JB, White, Sam, and PP accounting for 165mil isn't terrible. Sprinkle in the few cheap team options, rookie deal or two plus a MLE and that's still a competitive team. Is it a 60 win steamroll through the playoffs? No, but for a new ownership group, playoffs are huge.

Nah, he’s a little cringe about it sometimes, but he’s trying. I respect that. Nobody is perfect, but he’s putting in work and trying to make things better for people.

Not attractive. But the team let him learn at the knee of Marcus Smart, so not surprising.

Never heard of a player appointing himself captain before.

That detail and related braggadocio aside, I wish the role had been taken by somebody more purely focused on basketball (plus private stuff -- family/faith/whatever), with a more coach-like understanding of the game.

On the other hand -- Jaylen is one of the best on the team for dialing up intensity as needed, and he's thought about how to be a vocal leader, so he's not a totally crazy fit for the role either.

How is Payton Pritchard not the captain of this team?

Al Horford would be my personal choice for team captain. Tenure, experience (in and out of Celtics), professionalism, basketball knowledge/IQ, calming presence, less oncourt responsibility, less stuff going on off the court apart from his family, etc.

JB would be my next logical choice. Team seems to rally around him.

Jaylen was reelected as NBPA VP, per Shams. Congrats JB!

I feel like Horford said he didn't want captain but i could've imagined it.

JB's three ball is completely unacceptable this season. :wavefinger:

Yep. He needs to get that % closer to his career average. The good news is he takes less than 1/3 of his shots from 3, and is getting the line at a career best clip making over 75% of FTs and has really improved as a facilitator.
If he did all that and shot 36% from 3…well ****, he would just be too good for the league ;)

As I said with Tatum, may hold true for Brown. Perhaps his 3 ball is down because JB, like Tatum, has become so much bigger and stronger, it may have affected his shooting from deep. I mean JB looks bigger than ever and has him going harder to the rim and posting up which I do like. So maybe a decent trade off.

Just like with Tatum, I am speculating again as only God would know.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Hope JB turns it around in the playoffs.

TS+ is by far worst of his career.
