Winning team gets the HC for NBA finals. Simple as that.

Only way to get these AS playing hard is to threaten their ego with a loss to a team of non-AS players.
The non-AS players are picked based on the players with the most fan votes that didn't get selected as AS. You know they have something to prove and fans get to see the players they voted for.
I think the format of 2 semis and a final worked, I just want to see each of the games go for a little longer and AS vs non-AS be in both semis. I want to see an AS team get smoked for being lazy.
A great idea actually.
I will add that if the All-Star team lose to the non All-Stars, the losing All-Star players cannot be selected again to the All-Star next year.
If you have more "Posts" than "And1", don't feel bad if I didn't reply to you - I just don't like to speak with people who argue a lot

I agree this is the best AS Fix idea.
So much drama circulates when the AS roster is announced, this would be great for fans to watch.

Here's a real solution: The winning team gets an actual cash prize and have it come out of the losing team's paycheck.

There is no fix. Its an archaic concept. Nobody cares in 2025. Move on

Re: I think we stumbled on an actual fix for the All star game
Only ways to fix it, besides the given of cutting down on the stoppages and "entertainment" aspects is to either have the winning conference get HCA in the finals OR when we have expansion, the way NHL did with each conference having two divisions, the divisions playing each other than the finals being East v Sweden.

They can just AI the players in a competitive game. Players get the rest and fans get to see a real competition.

West semis
West AS: SGA, Curry, LeBron, Durant, Jokic -- Harden, Edwards, Jalen, Wemby, Sengun (inj Davis) -- Kyire, JJJ
West Non-AS: Ja, Doncic, Booker, Green, Sabonis -- Fox, Powell, Wiggins, Zion, Chet -- Reaves, Kuminga
It's still east vs west in the finals.
This is the fix

And trae and Herro not on the AllStar game.....cause they would be playing to punish these guys

Too cheap and that amount is not the same for everyone.
Losing player loses 10% of their annual salary-- the bigger the star you are the bigger the (monetary) stakes.

It's still east vs west in the finals.
Only the teams meeting in the final game are then eligible for potential Supermax eligibility. Want every player to care? Put their future earnings on the line.

This.
It's too obvious. The main thing these players care about is their brand and legacy. When you put HCA on the line, that may impact those things.
It also helps balance out the strength of conference so it does make some sense from a competitive level.

The winning team should become all stars and the losing team loses all star status. Just double the all star selection pool and make them earn their place. That will double the nba stars for the weekend and give them a reason to compete.

The losing team gets all their social media DM's exposed to the public. Change the punishment to something similar every year so they can't plan ahead and clean out their dirt.

Re: I think we stumbled on an actual fix for the All star game
I think that if we want the allstar to matter then it has to be related to their money.
A player that wins in the allstar game will have an accumulated sum that when he can get a new contract, then it will say how high of a max or supermax he can get. If for example a player can get a supermax, then the amount will be according to salary steps that will have correlation with how many allstar games he won since he signed his last contract. If he lost all the allstar games he participated in and he has 0 accumulated sum of wins since he signed his last contract then he can't get the supermax and can only get the max. The highest supermax will be for those who won all the allstar games since their last contract. Of course a player that isn't an allstar or is not participating or injured can't get the highest supermax because he won't have the highest accumulated sum when he is due to a new contract, and in that way players will have to play their best in order to get selected to the allstar game.

you can't PENALIZE them
part of the cost is the hit on a player's ego. like "when the chips were down they played harder than you". money transfering from one player's pocket to another's is the embarrassment of it. embarrassment has never been a factor especially in the asg

Re: I think we stumbled on an actual fix for the All star game
It's not fixable. It's an exhibition game in the middle of a long season and the players make too much money to risk injury. The NFL stopped playing the Pro Bowl. The NBA should do the same.

oh sheet....this plus a one on one contest with divisions based on heights - Like 6'3 and under - 6'3-6'7 then 6'7 to 6'10- 6'10 to wemby...if you on the lower number or higher number of a range you can play in that range...like a 6'3 guy can play in any two divisions ...
make the 3 point champion the 3 point champion of the year...make him eligible for a super max - team doesn't have to pay but make it have some financial value
same with dunk contest...
give everything contractual value- make these dudes dance for real cash---- watch a ton of bubble guys cry and thank gee-zeus and their moms when they win-
hearing ant-man talk like..."naw I aint never been a Allstar game type dude and I don't really got no tricks when I dunk" makes sense if he is all about winning for the timberwolves. If you really want your stars locked in and playing for their teams Ant-man is right...so you gotta appeal to their selfish sides.

The Ringer's Chris Vernon and Kevin O'Connor discuss the top 10 story lines of the NBA, including the Serge Ibaka trade (5:00), Kevin Love's injury (10:00), Mike Budenholzer backing Paul Millsap (14:00), Nikola Jokic's breakout performance (22:15), LaMarcus Aldridge's All-Star snub (34:00), the newly coined NBA G-League (41:00), and 'John Wick 2' (44:00).

Re: I think we stumbled on an actual fix for the All star game
That's actually not a bad idea, but I can't believe how much people fret about an exhibition game that gets forgotten about the instant it ends. Imo the amount of time devoted to discussing this game far exceeds how much people should care about it, again, it's an exhibition game with nothing at stake.

Re: I think we stumbled on an actual fix for the All star game
Why not just have a pool of 24 potential all-stars play, the top 12 twelve vote-getters on one, and the next 12 on the other? Winners are the official allstars. Players are all about legacy nowadays; making the all-star team by winning the game seems like some good motivation.
