[Murphy] Chomche out for season with MCL tear

Post#1 » by Thaddy » Mon Feb 17, 2025 4:18 pm

The knee injury looked pretty bad. This is the primary reason I dislike Grange, Will Lou, and the other Raptors reporters. This is the exact stuff they should be on top of but they are MIA.

Does anyone know what's going on? The severity? When he'll be back?

Update:

Chomche out for the season

“Ulrich Chomche is out for the season with an MCL tear.

Hope is he can be ready for Summer League.

Will people stop picking out on our local reporters they are no different than other team local reporters. Don't confluate national reporters as local reporters.

Most reporters get reports from agents and those agents keep contacts with national people not local people.

I guess it then becomes, what is the point of a local reporter? At the very least, Grange has some nice long-form articles. The rest do next to nothing.

I assume it's because it was the weekend...and AS weekend at that. And possibly there are no formal practices going on as guys are away, etc...

So maybe no media is around Mgt to actually ask that question. Or maybe it was asked "off the record", and we're just told " we will know more on xxxx". So, no real news anyways.

But yeah, would be nice to know if he is OK or not.

Unless there is media availability, there is no access to info for local guys. I’m not hopeful because I think very likely there is an injury with three letters and the last two are cl. It is a matter of which cl and the degree. A month would be wonderful news based on what happened.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Hopefully it's nothing serious/long term, but certainly didn't look particularly good.

It looks like he tore his meniscus or a tendon. If that happened we will probably waive him. It's going to probably kill his chance at getting into the league.

There is zero chance he gets waived.

To the original question - it's a holiday AND ppl have probably scattered to the winds because of the ASB.

Did he walk off under his own power or have to be carted off?

Went o go watch him in gleague. He was probably the worst one on the court. Couldn’t grab a rebound, butter hands and ball slipped from his hands a lot.

He needs major development. Catch 1000 passes a day while he’s injured.

Why would you waive a rookie on a two-way over a manicus tear? Especially when we have 3 2way contracts right now

Because similar to Koloko the injury is going to affect his development and put him further behind.

He'll be ready by training camp if he dies have a maniscus tear, not a potential life threating injury that we have to use a guarantees roster spot on would be the slight/major difference

I wouldnt say 0%, but doubtful for sure.

He walked off, so hopes are that it isnt really bad, but we've seen guys walk out and take FTs with full tendons ruptured so who knows.

Because similar to Koloko the injury is going to affect his development and put him further behind.

The difference is Koloko was 23 years old and there was no timetable on when he might return, if ever. And we needed a roster spot after the Siakam deal.

Chomche is a just turned 19 year old on a 2-way so it really doesn't impact the roster and he was likely gleague bound all next year anyways.

So not quite the same

My concern is the potential long term effects, depending on the injury some of this stuff can basically seriously hamper the rest of a players career, and his has barely even started. Hopefully it's nothing to be worried about.

Oh I agree with that part. But you don't cut him now since he is so young and on a 2-way. We have more than roster spots available to just wait on him and see how he is actually impacted.

I just don't see it as a decision that needs to be made this year. Let's see what the damage is, and how he recovers.

Yeah I agree, gotta at least wait until you get the full diagnoses and then see how the recovery goes before even entertaining it. He's the last pick in the draft, there's no rush cutting his salary lol.

Fair. I walked off with a full all, mcl.
