In a blowout he can only muster 2 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assists with no blocks

Considering the amount of talent in this draft, it would be wise to avoid a raw project. He may turn out to be a stud, but there's a plethora of long athletic bigs that haven't worked out.
Maluach needs to prove it or lose it. Elite shot blocking, elite awareness/IQ, good feel/instincts, elite rebounding, etc. At least one or more of basic traits are necessary for him to enter the top 10. He can't just be "long and athletic".

I might be super lost in this opinion, and I don't mean for it to be some BS ESPN hot take but I consider him a second rounder. I wouldn't take him over someone like Kalkbrenner.

30/33 rolling to the basket and 25/32 cutting means something to me. He has great feel for that. 17.1% ORB and 21.9% in conf play. I'd say he has great feel for that too.

2025 1st and 2025 2nd
FOR
2025 MIL 1st + 2025 NYK 1st + 2026 Nets 1st
Nets have three low 2025 1sts and are probably more interested in top end talent. They go for a guaranteed top pick instead of a questionable one in 2026. At #19 and #24 we get two of Danny Wolf/Queen/Rasheer/Sorber/Newell/Maluach/Carter Bryant/Noah Penda/other
I'm not so sure Bailey/Harper/VJ/Kasparas/Tre end up as perennial stars, probably a couple of them don't live up to expectations..maybe even 3-4 of them:
Bailey: The concerns have been discussed, no need to go over them again
Harper: Perimeter shooting is still up and down..plenty of room for him to improve, but I'm a bit worried about his shooting form. Looks like his brothers. Ultimately, it's tough having a guard that's not an elite shooter nowadays.
Kasparas: defense, TO's, shooting consistency, lack of lift when finishing in the paint
VJ: still a bit of a project offensively and he's supposedly 6'3. If he's too reliant on his athleticism, then I worried about the toll an NBA season takes and how long his body can last.
Tre: I do think he has potential to be a big time scorer (but also flawed - low FT's/drives to the rim) type of player.
NBA spacing might help some of these players, as it gives them more space to drive/maneuver

2026 class in theory right now should be way better at the top. Peterson is an animal, has all the tools you want on offense, good rebounder and a stock machine. 6'5 w 6'10 WS. He does everything and had runs with like high 80s shooting from stripe. Ftr in high 400s. Recently has been dropping dimes all over. He's a stud.
VJ is nice but he's a role player. Peterson has the body, WS and skill to be two way 3 level threat and has the bag and more advanced dribble J. VJ is hopefully going to become something near a Derrick White level role player in 4-5 years. I also worry about injury stuff given how rim heavy he is and how he often ends up on the floor. But you can't let something like that factor in the evaluation, had the same thoughts about Topic last year.
So many guys this year are heavily flawed.

This class is already (way) better than last 2 years, and the raw talent is there, just that they have not performed well to be ranked in the top 10, and more being C.
I would not mind trading down, but trading out might miss some good prospects.
I still believe some of the freshmen down in the 2nd can be sleepers, such as Kanon Catchings, etc. are still young and have upside to them for being steals.
