Keep it real. I don’t think anybody is impressed w/ the format.

If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I like the all-snub team idea. And they are 100% going to win it every time

They essentially ruined all the All-Star stats records with the new format. Bring back the old one, even if there's no defense, at least we'd see the stars playing more minutes.

Herro would've been able to cook a bit more in the old format, he was starting to get hot. That’s the kind of thing you want to see, so it can carry over into the regular season games.

Old format sucked and the new one sucked more

Need some fresh ideas on how to make the best players want to try hard

Better incentives, winning players get $1M or something. Dame mentioned have the finals on the line like the MLB, I think that’s a horrible idea

Finals home court is an interesting one. If that doesn't make them compete I don't know what will. Only issue I see with it is that not all the all stars actually have a chance to make it to the finals so you'll never get the same level of effort from all the players.

Don’t like the idea at all honestly and I think it’ll be a detriment to the regular season

I mentioned it another year, and got poo-pooed for it, but I think the timing of the All-Star game doesn't help, in that it is 2 months from the playoffs and if you get injured, you likely impact your team. Also a lot of teams seasons haven't gone how they expected and they may need to make up ground. Inevitable a portion of the players will be in that position.

You look at off-season scrimmage, there is more effort. They are hungry for games after a break, and they are not as concerned about an injury. Maybe announce rosters in Feb (so it is not just All-NBA all over again) but play it a month after the finals. Players will be keen, fans will be desperate for action.

Doesn't solve everything. Players still don't want to be humiliated, but it rules out some things

I dont think players would go for this. Its already a short offseason for teams making deep playoff runs, then they have to cut into their international vacations for all star festivities.

I remember being a kid watching this ASG, for fans this was special. The games greatest players going blow for blow, the East celebrating like they won the championship. And there was no incentive, they just loved to compete. Its a shame the league now has to try to reinvent the wheel every year with these corny gimmicks because players simply no longer give a damn. I thought Ant might be the guy to bring the Kobe intensity back to the ASG but when I read his quote “I don’t think anybody wants to come here and compete” I saw he’s been compromised already.

Or they could just accept that most people don't give a damn about exhibition games and scrap the whole thing.

I can't remember the last time I watched an all star game in any sport. It was probably the college football Senior Bowl decades ago, to check out players that my favorite NFL team wasn't going to draft.

It’s funny, you’ll go on Twitter and the old heads will all be acting like they used to just get after it for 48 full minutes during the 80s/90s but they replay those all star games all the time on nbatv, it was just more of the same. A bunch of BS until the end if it’s a close game and then you might see some locked in play for the final 8 minutes or so.

I’m like you, my involvement in the entire weekend as a whole has plummeted since Wade retired. They would never scrap it though, too much money involved and it’s a business first and foremost

It’s a tough situation. Personally I don’t feel like I could step out there and not try to win, feel like a lot of these guys are too prideful deep down to just go out there and get smacked but also don’t want to go out there and tear an ACL. We’d all be pretty pissed right now if Tyler went out here and got injured during his 5 minutes or whatever he played

****. Ive learned that peeps who can voice their opinions easily and loudly dont mean much.

Herros ascension was the turning point for Butler. I 100% understand it from the Heats side. They have a top tier sniper in a league that is built around that skill. Hes 25. Butler is efficient but 35 and wanting 2 more big money years. It was time to go and Butlers tenure ended on poor terms. That 22 is up for grabs.

It was obvious Butler rubbed a lot of peeps the wrong way. Im glad he did it though. We may not be as good, but I feel the direction moving forward is a bit clearer now.

We're all trying to come up with every trick in the book to make players compete - just seems like working backwards. Noone wants to get injured for an all-star weekend. Either that or they'd rather take the rest.

Maybe there's a way to combine the in-season tourney and the all-star weekend.
