This looks like an elite 8 team to me. They are really well rounded around a star player.

Looked like some discontent with Underwood and Gard as the tv broadcast cut out.

Delighted as California resident to have found the Varsity app so I can sync the game with Lepay like I did with my dad when I was a kid.

I went looking for an answer too, mostly because it looked really tame. Someone on Bluesky said they heard on the radio it was about skipping handshake lines because of the flu.

ETA: Yeah this was it. Found it on Twitter with video. Underwood just has RBF.

I get it, but the players were probably more exposed while playing the game then they would have been going through a hand shake line.

It’d be the Badgers luck the team gets hit by the bug going into the tournament.

I wonder if the lines were aborted due to the flu bug hitting Illinois and not wanting to spread it. Underwood doesn't look heated.

Our chemistry is insanely good, especially considering the change over nature of the portal/NIL era. There is an established hierarchy and dudes have fully bought into and embraced their roles. Tonje is that dude, with a deep and dangerous supporting cast. Never thought Chucky and Storr leaving would be such a blessing in disguise.

I watched the game, but looking at the stat line. Tonje is just insane and I love that he's getting some national attention now (no I don't think it will go to his head or anything).

But 9/15 (3/5 3), 10/12 FT, 3REB, 4 STL, 3 TO for 31 points is bonkers.

Our script for success is
2/3 Tonje, Blackwell, Klesmit play well
1/2 Crowl/Winter play well
1/4 Gilly, McGee, Janicki, Amos adds unexpected spark off bench

I think this is repeatable.

It turned out the schedule makers did Wisconsin a bit of a solid by scheduling Illinois after Purdue. If this was Rutgers or Penn State I would've been a little worried about a possible let down game but that wasn't going to happen against Illinois. Blackwell is always extra motivated against Illinois (Blackwell's dad is Glynn Blackwell who played at Illinois and was their captain on their 88 team and Blackwell got no interest from Illinois) and they want to avenge the early season loss.

I had a similar, but lessened, feeling as I did after the Purdue game in the sense that what I was most impressed by is that they pretty thoroughly outclassed this good team and didn't play anywhere close to a perfect game nor did I think the opponent played very poorly. Illinois is not as good as Purdue but they're firmly a tournament team and Wisconsin pretty clearly outclassed them without playing nearly a perfect game.

Since 2017. They mentioned that on the broadcast last night and I was shocked.

STorr for sure as you can see what's happening at kansas. But I'd say the real key is Wahl being gone. After like 8 years of Happ/Wahl we finally have all 5 being able to shoot again, which is key to have a flowing offense these days. No more standing and staring at a post guy and trying to force stuff to them while everyone else stands around

ETA: I'd also be curious if Chucky didn't leave would Tonje have picked us and if we would've had the money to pay him. Sure not the exact same position but just knowing a heavy ball handler/shooter like Chucky would be here might've affected the choice.

Wahl had a lot of good, but watching him the last two years really frustrated me. His inability to shoot from the floor and the line, and his tunnel vision attacking the hoop. Now that you've mentioned it, I think Wahl and Storr being gone (and Chucky) has allowed the returning guys an opportunity to flourish and then finding a stud in Tonje just put us over the edge. This has been a fun season even during the Ls.

He sure seems like one, but I actually don't think he is. Apparently he and Gard are buddies.

Iowa State and Houston are playing this weekend and I've been wondering who to root for and it hinges on how much of a chance do I think Wisconsin has of getting a 1 seed. An Iowa State loss strengthens UW's chances of a 2-seed and their chances of playing in Milwaukee. But any chance they have of getting a 1 seed probably hinges on Houston taking another couple of losses, which is possible but unlikely given that they've only lost 1 game since November.

I'll be rooting for Houston. Florida is the most likely team to drop from the 1 line (I personally don't care if Wisconsin is a 1 seed anyway).

IF, huge if, Wisconsin wins out, wins the Big 10 and wins the BTT they'll be a 1 seed. Doesn't matter what else happens.
