This is so real, and while it only lasts for a week or two, it unfortunately occurs fairly often over the 5-6 months of winter out there. Also, a week or two of that weather is brutal. Can't describe with words how cold a -40 windchill is

Okay as a Regina resident I was about to blast you for saying 5-6 months. And then I remembered a few years ago where it snowed in October and then again on May 1st...

But in actuality, the -40 **** is usually only a few weeks a year. It isn't -40 all winter here. Gonna be +4 next week

I also heard the cold in Saskatechewan doesn't have as much rizz as it does in Ontario, since Ontario (especially Toronto) is quite wet while Saskatchewan is somewhat arid. Does that sound true to you?

It’s a fact. I spent time in Manitoba and was comfy well into the -30’s. Comparably, -10 in Toronto is heckin cold, and with the wind chill it’s even worse.

This is the (specious) argument my wife (native Reginan) tries to make.... "It's such a damp cold in Ontario!! It chills you right to the bone!" To which I reply, ya sure but it's not "life-threateningly cold". Like if you get locked out on your patio in a windbreaker by accident, you're not calling the ambulance and probably dead by the time they arrive.

If you’re only wearing a windbreaker on your patio in -40 it’s probably because your wife locked you out, lol. Obviously not your wife, but that dude’s wife.

And if you’re only wearing a windbreaker in the winter on the prairies you probably huffed something that raised your temp.

Mind you, I was shocked when it started snowing in September in MB. September 23. I still remember we had a false flag fire alarm and were standing outside in our office clothes shivering.

I'm so glad that I only had to spend one full winter in Regina. That cold was something else.

My family used to live there. My mom said that, in the Winters, they'd have an inch-thick crust of ice form on the inside of the balcony door . I still have extended family out there and they love it. Saskatchewan is quite a beautiful province, from what I've heard: fun roads to drive through in the Summer, decent people, and less of some types of nonsense that you see in Toronto. The prairies have their own charm that keeps people there (Prairizz, if you will). My dad would still have lived there if he didn't happen to marry a girl who spent her high school years in NYC (imagine going from Manhattan to Regina ).

Regina is gorgeous and wonderful in the summertime (minus the evening mosquitoes). One regret I have is that I missed out on seeing the revamped Wascana Lake area before I left my job out there.

Also, even with the unbelievable level of racism, at the same time you also have some of the kindest people there as well. The "farmer's culture of willing to give someone the shirt off your back" and the similar indigenous culture really gives the province some of the warmest people in all of Canada.

Agreed on all counts. Mosquitoes suck, racism sucks, summers are amazing, stupendously kind humans.

Yeah the snow is inconvenient this year, it makes things more difficult but this is how winter is supposed to be here. It warms my heart seeing 8-10 foot snow banks after these last two abominations we've had to call winter where it rained more than it snowed. For real, the past two winters really spooked me in terms of climate change.

Calling the last 2 winter abominations is equivalent to calling Gradey Dick has all-star potential

Abomdeneiganations.

My one big problem with so much snow in Toronto: it exposes how inadequate snow removal system is in this city. Never mind reduced lanes, some major roads (like Bathurst) still have residues of snow that makes driving riskier than it needs to be more than 48 hours after the storm.

Housing is probably the cheapest in all of Canada. I moved out there during the pandemic, but moved back. There's the big reasons, like friends and family being in the GTA, but also small things. For example, a friend was so excited for us to play scalper playoff prices to drive to Alberta to be able to watch a Raptors preseason game.

But you could get a really nice house in one of the newer subdivisions in the south end of Regina for a great price!

True you'll pay for stuff like that... but it kind of makes up for it when you can afford to buy a house for under $300K when you are still in your mid 20s

Personally I love Saskatchewan. I loved Toronto to. But to live IDK how y'all do it in Toronto. I am at any time a 15 minute drive outside of a city and can just enjoy life. I grew up near regina in a smaller town and I can be there in less than an hour and can just enjoy life without being in a concrete jungle. I decide at 10am I wanna go for a round of golf and by 10:30 I can be teeing off and not be around 1000 people all at once.

Winters? Garbage. But life changes here in the winter and a lot of stuff just moves indoors. You swing by friends houses more, you go inside to a pub, you watch more sports, etc. And then in those 4-5 months of beautiful of weather you just make the most of it. When you know it is a finite time before the snow returns it feels like everyone you know is just down to do things whenever.

This is a big one. Going to work or visiting a friend somewhere else in the city is a huge pain in the ass, it takes real effort to get people together. "Toronto is an hour away from Toronto" it didn't hit me until I was going to a work related dinner and the car barely moved for 25 minutes in the don mills area. It was torture. I just turned around and went home. Terrible and outdated infrastructure. From Weston to Scarborough its a total disaster.
Google "Hind Rajab"
Total Killed by Israel = 50,000+
Israel kills a child every 45 minutes and ban aid workers from bringing in baby formula
Total being starved by Israel = 500,000 -1,000,000

Didn't even consider that but yes, I totally agree.

If I wanna go to the airport it is a 10 minute drive. If I have to go to work it is a 7 minute drive. I have every edge of the city within 20 minutes.

Do we have "less" to do? Absolutely. But that is what vacations are for.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

The infrastructure was developed when the population was half what it is now, maybe less. It simply can’t support this much population. To make things worse, public transport hasn’t kept up either.

And it’s not just Toronto, it’s a GTA problem. Even the suburbs are tough to get around. Going just a few kilometers in Mississauga or Burlington or Brampton in rush hour will easily take 30 mins, worse if the weather is bad.
