Sacramento - Charlotte

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:08 am

Charlotte trade: Bridges, 2025 2nd
Sacramento trade: Derozan

Why for Charlotte: add a floor raiser to help them become respectable again. Should be a good mentor for Miller
Why for Sacramento: Roster balance to add more size

That’s gonna be a big ol’ hell naw from the Kings. You couldn’t pay me enough to take on Bridges.

Charlotte doesn't want an old guy and definitely no interest in giving an early second for him.

Lots of reasons why the Kings shouldn't do this. Can't get into all of them without getting called names, but let's stick with DD is a better player and they want to win.

Hornets should absolutely do this. As quickly as possible.

I get all the baggage with Miles, but lets be real, Derozen is a trash player when it comes to winning basketball

I would rather the kings never make the playoffs again than to pay that guy a single dollar to play basketball.

Kings rostered and played Darren Collison an entire season, post suspension of course, after literally serving jailtime for DV so theres certainly no ethical qualms on their end under Ranadive

Hornets obviously no interest in DDR obviously

Absolutely. I don't have a firm feeling one way or another. I get people that don't like it, but I also get people that, while not supporting the action, can give a person a chance.

On the trade itself. I feel that DDR is absolutely the better player right now, but a) you know he has 1.5-2 years left like this in his career and b) he just simply doesn't play winning basketball. Yes he can get hot (23.5ppg and a respectable 36.4% from 3 in 2025). He can also win you some games in the clutch, and he can also lose you some games in the clutch. If you like watching ISO basketball, DDR is your man. If you like watching good modern team basketball, he will make your eyes bleed.

So I would absolutely do this, even though Miles isn't the type of player we need. We need a proper PF, not another guy masquerading as one.

Your suggestion that the Kings once had a player who pled guilty to domestic violence, therefore they should want a player who assaulted children and broke bones, is disgusting.

Maybe the fans reading this didn’t approve of Collison’s actions either.

Maybe the team has learned since then.

Don’t handwave away what Bridges did. Do better.

its not that they want him its that they wouldnt particularly care based on their actions so i don't think its a valid point to debate a trade. i don't care what fans think, particularly a warriors fan lol

Ignoring all the sanctimonious platitudes expressed here and focusing solely on basketball alone. I think DDR is the better player here. I don't mind the basketball player here, but to me the value seems off and Charlotte seems like an awkward fit. I've always seem like DD should go to the Heat if he were to be traded.

I think a lotto protected 1st makes this deal equitable.

It makes no sense from a timeline or competitive point of view for Charlotte to waste a first on DeRozan.

He's a solid chance of being a bad contract in 12 months.

To be fair. DDR isn't fully GTD in his last season. He absolutely will not be a bad contract in 12 months. He will still be putting up great "numbers". Whether you like that or not is up to you, but he will absolutely not be a bad contract in 12 months unless you think he has been for the last 10 years.

His play could possibly hold up for another 3-4 TBH. I just hate the way he plays and don't see it as a way to improve a team. If I was being brutally honest I think DDR is the most selfish ball player in the NBA over the last 10-15 years. He knows his style doesn't translate to winning basketball, he absolutely knows it, and yet he still demands it from the coaches and teammates to play this way instead of changing the way he plays. As I've mentioned before, excellent ball player, an absolute walking bucket. But people pay money to see everyone play, this isn't Rucker Park.

Given the current state of the team, why would Charlotte trade for a guy who will turn 36 before next season, even if he currently is a better player?

If we were trading Miles (I don't see why we would need to), I'd rather trade for an equal player that is 10 years younger than DDR.

I'm assuming the options of getting off Bridges and getting a player as useful as Derozan are few and maybe non-existent. Hornets shouldn't care about 10 years from now. They should care about playing competitive basketball. They will hope to have 4 cornerstone pieces in place after the draft. If that's not enough, then Ball and Miller aren't who they need them to be, but they have to still play that out and find out.

So get rid of a potential headache, bring in a true professional who can keep the offense afloat in non-Ball minutes and show the core how to be pros.

Seems like exactly the kind of move the team should be looking to make.

Returning son Mark Williams, no? I mean all we heard before the trade was he was untouchable and since the trade its been he's fine, the Lakers just got cold feet, etc...

I wouldn't rely on him as core, but I think most of our Hornets fans absolutely still do, or at least post as if they do.

DD is a bad fit given Lee's system pretty much has zero mid-range element to it. But the question is what direction will the Kings go this summer. Try to stay the course despite losing Fox or blow it up and rebuild? As a Hornets fan, if the Kangz go the direction of rebuild then I'd certainly be happy to give up draft capital for Sabonis.
