Wow Wemby out the rest of the season.

Who would have thought Wemby would be out for the year before Embiid.

I hope Wemby has a full recovery.

Wemby out for the season with a shoulder injury. Terrible news for the Spurs, Wemby, and the NBA. Also directly affects the Bulls - I'm not sure Fox plus some guys goes anywhere, so that's one more team that will be vying for lottery position.

Sure hope Wembanyama comes back strong and healthy next year.

I'll take any news that helps keep alive the slim chance Giannis asks to be traded.

A blood clot isn't an injury. But tall people are more susceptible to blood clots, and Victor sure is as tall as it gets.

Bummer for Wemby.

I'm baffled how a team with Wemby and a very competent surrounding cast are below .500

I had one in my thigh. Follow the doctors directions and Victor will be ready for 25-26.

Spurs will double down on the Flagg tank.

Billy will compete after the post-deadline tank-moon dissipates.

I'm glad they caught the DVT at all, wouldn't be normal to check a healthy young man for blood clots. I had a bad situation with DVT and was about a week away from losing a limb / stroke / death. Only caught because I was in the hospital for a follow up on something else.

I wonder what his situation will be and playing, the NBA has taken different stances on this from denying Chris Bosh to allowing other players like Ingram. I guess the more recent case Brandon Ingram would be more likely.

If Pops has his way, the Spurs will use this opportunity to tank. Only question is if Fox and Paul will be cool with that plan.

Wemby out is good news/bad news for the Bulls.
Bad that SAS likely loses more than they would have, drop lower in the draft order and end up worse than the Bulls.
Good that they very likely drop below PORT so if there's a minor miracle and the Blazers get to #15 the Bulls get that imaginary pick.

Is it actually possible for the POR pick to convey if they don't make the play-in?

As long as he makes a full recovery for next year then it's probably okay for the Spurs. I bet they rest/limit Fox and try to get the highest pick that they can.

Bosh was forced to retire because he had a recurring clotting problem that required him to be on blood thinners and it was believed to be too dangerous for him to play while on the medication. My guess is Ingram doesn't require the meds and that's the difference.

I'm more surprised that Tramadol is on the banned substance list. 25 games for pain relief... this seems a bit of a stretch.

That would make sense, in my case I am on blood thinners for life as well. Sounds like Ingram (and Wemby?) the blood clot was isolated.

How do you accidentally take something that requires a prescription?

The statement from the agent said they thought they were taking Toradol which is allowed, and also requires a prescription.

Like - who wrote the prescription here? A team doctor?

The statement only raises more questions.

“I was dealing with an elbow injury and using an NBA-approved medication for pain and inflammation,” Portis said in a statement. “During that time, I made an honest mistake and took a pain-reducing anti-inflammatory pill that is not approved. I feel horrible and recognize that I’m responsible for what I put in my body.”

How did you come into possession of the Tramadol?

Right - my understanding with Bosh is that he didn't have to retire due to the blood clots themselves, but the concern that playing a contact sport on blood thinners was risky from the perspective of sustaining an injury and then having internal bleeding or something like that.

The early report on Wemby is they are hopeful it's just a one-off rather than a chronic issue, so hopefully that ends up being the case.
