Took me about 10 seconds to look up that it's been proven that Tramadol can be utilized as a performance enchanting drug, look like the cases/studies are primarily related to cycling though.

tramadol can arguably be performance-enhancing for extreme endurance efforts (aka every pro cycling race), the one notable case in cycling was Nairo Quintana and most fans think that that suspension was BS or at least should have been less severe
there is zero chance bobby was intentionally taking it as a PED, as it would not help at all in basketball
and as someone who has been prescribed it before (badly broken nose), it's also not fun enough to be a recreational drug unless you're like a desperate teenager with no access to anything else, it does do a good job of killing a headache tho
it being a genuine mistake is the only thing that makes sense
