Right. Means he can sign with 1st or 2nd apron teams.

I don't think he would do it, but Miami Heat are in dire need of a playmaking PG. We have everything else in place for a player like him to join and turn our fortunes around. It is a team of complementary players with noone to set the table and organise them. Bam and Ware are constant lob and post threats with noone who knows how to set them up. Herro and Wiggins are both 3 point threats with other skills. Then on the other end, that is a defensive front court in Bam-Ware-Wiggins, with only Herro as substandard.

If Chris Paul wanted to take that chance on adding to his legacy this late as a leader rather than a coattails hanger-on-er-er, this would be a good place.

They probably don't give him the highest odds of winning a championship, as they are likely out of that tier, but they give him a very good chance of being considered more highly if they broke through.

For example, Miami has lost these 10 games:
13 point lead choked to Bulls
13 point lead choked to Clippers
13 point lead choked to Knicks
14 point lead choked to Lakers
15 point lead choked to Suns
17 point lead choked to Kings
22 point lead choked to Magic
21 point lead choked to Thunder
8 point OT lead choked to Detroit

All due to lack of discipline, panic and scoring droughts without a playmaker. We win those games with Paul. If Miami is 35-18, they are a half game out of 4th in the NBA from Memphis and Knicks.

Maybe a reunion with PHX makes sense or Minnesota might offer him a starting role at PG.

A reunion with Phoenix makes the most sense since Suns are struggling right now.

CP3 I feel is stubborn enough to hold a grudge vs Phoenix for shipping him out after helped lead them to the Finals and just after they traded for KD. Plus, I doubt he'd want to join a sinking ship in Phoenix where his fit would only exacerbate the issue they have defensively.

Of the potential contenders on the board, I think he'd be a nice fit in Minnesota. They need some Conley insurance and he is the exact type of player they need to get a bit more out of their 3 bigs, especially Rudy. His preferred destinations in Cali, just don't need him.

If he really does get bought out, I could see him going to Minnesota.

he's not a good fit at his age for the Nuggets at all, imo

could he help their 2nd unit doing his point god thing? sure..but there's not way you'd play him in a starting lineup that has Jokic and Murray vs. good team in the playoffs, that'd be awful defensively and redundant on offense as you'd just be taking the ball out of Jokic's hands, and Jokic is a much much better playmaker at this point in CP3's career

Murray would need to guards SG's, it'd be really awful

so in theory, he could be a useful 3rd stringer playing like 8 mpg in the non-Jokic mins in the playoffs but yeah...just no

there are better fits

Minnesota here. Conley started slowly, Dillingham not ready. Ruby loves lobs.

As a Suns fan, I would much rather have Chris over Tyus Jones. Didnt know Tyus was such a nothing defender. Its like he isnt even there, like doing layups alone in the gym against him it seems. But I thought I heard that Chris was resigned to take on a mentor slash coaching role in hopes of actually coaching for the Spurs one day soon.

1. Not in a million years would I consider starting him in Denver.

2. I said any number of minutes. Eight would be nice.

3. As a Nuggets supporter, I wouldn't mind keeping him away from those better fits.

We can reopen this if there is an actual report about a Chris Paul buyout, but until that this thread makes no sense. Please don't make assumptions and post them as news headlines.
