According to this 8 weeks minimum with a real chance of six months to fully recover. Since we know it is grade 3, we must assume DDV is done.

My guess is the 2nd opinion is because the first said get surgery. If true this is a massive setback. The two questions are 1, can he be back for the playoffs if Surgery is needed? 2, can we win 22 or 23 games without him?
You probably right. I have a friend doctor and ask him today. He say, without surgery, i calculate he will miss around 25 games if no issue during recovery. If surgery ( 2 to 3 months...), season is over and will need luck to see Donte in PO.
It really s..... as Donte was really great last 10 games. I love Rob but he is 19 years young and can't carry a team with PO ambition. Let him learn.
Mike is old and can play well ( if he see the ball... today poor shooting but 8 Ass/1TO..) around 20-24 min not more.... we got a big hole right now.

That sucks, just when he start to find his footing as a starter. I don't know if there is a good trade available. Maybe Monte Morris or Tyrus wants to come back? If we get DDV's full salary, we could trade for Tre Jones. TC may just re-sign Dozier
If you’re talking about the Disabled Player Exception, the deadline to apply for one was January 15.

So we missed that. If DDV is out the remainder of the season, could we sign another player into his salary slot or do we get any tax relief?

Re: The Donte "Big Ragu" DiVincenzo Thread
Another thought I’ve been having lately is that DDV may be the right backcourt partner for Ant, but that happens next year.
DDV has shown he works great next to Jalen Brunson, but Brunson was a playmaker. Ant isn’t, but it’s probably better to say, he isn’t one “yet.” I think that becoming a playmaker is his pathway to superstardom, where the ball is in his hands even more, but he’s facilitating team success. They retained Mike Conley on the roster to pour information into his brain, and to Ant’s credit, he wants to learn and he wants to be great.
These last few games we got a taste of DDV with “current” Ant, and DDV flourished. If Ant focuses on developing his playmaking this summer, the next two years of an Ant-DDV backcourt could be very exciting!

I am starting to think that Edwards just not a natural playmaker. DDV is a core piece (Ant would add "for sure"), but he is more Malik Monk type of 6th man, which will be needed if Naz becomes full time starter.
P.S. I wonder how many open shots can Rob create playing next to Edwards, Donte and Naz at the same time. It sounds like pure a definition of run-n-gun

Ant is basically Mitchell at this point but Mitchell is more efficient right now due to whatever reason. Garland still gets his. So, just don't run point Ant but Ant still has to pass the ball once a while.

No.
The only other injury relief is the Hardship Exception:
A team qualifies for a hardship exception when it meets all of the following criteria:
1. It has at least four players unavailable due to injury or illness.
2. All four of those players have missed at least three consecutive games.
3. All four of those players are expected to remain sidelined for at least two more weeks.
If a team meets those criteria, the NBA will grant a hardship exception, which gives the club the ability to sign a free agent to a 10-day contract even if its 15-man roster is already full.

Re: The Donte "Big Ragu" DiVincenzo Thread
I totally forgot that Donte is extension eligible starting this summer. Might be something to watch for. I think he'll safely be around $20-25M on his next deal.

I believe we could only offer 120% of his previous salary, and he’d make more than that if he doesn’t extend.

Well crap, thanks Mr. Killjoy....

It’s not that bad of news, since we have him locked into a discount contract, and control his Bird rights.
EDIT: If you recall, this was the issue with Jimmy. According to the CBA, he was eligible for an extension, but he had outperformed his current salary so much, that 120% of it’s base didn’t get him up to a level he thought was fair. I don’t expect DDV to act like Jimmy though. When you have a number that’s too low for a player to want to extend off of, it just means that your team grabbed a really great contract.

Wolves say Donte DiVincenzo (toe) has been cleared for non-contact basketball activities.
Julius Randle (groin) cleared for 5-on-5. Both remain out for tomorrow night's game against Houston.
Randle's return seems to be soon. DDV a little longer, but still an encouraging update.

We play well without them and they will come fresh for the run. Go Wolves!

So DDV’s update puts him a couple weeks out? Maybe a bit longer? I mean non contact isn’t great but it is a step in the right direction.
Randle’s return seems imminent? Kinda remains me of TSJ in that just because he was cleared doesn’t mean you want to rush him on the floor. Probably work him in the next few games?
Does this sound about right to you guys?

Full practiced yesterday, upgraded to questionable, might be available tonight. Even without Rudy or Randle, having some of DDV’s offense would help.

DDV play well since back. Should start again soon. Would like to see a line up DDV-ANT-Rudy-NAZ-Jaden, bench with Mike-Randle- NAW- Clark-TSJ could be a great bench too.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
