It qualifies under the “SPED” program, so a first violation is 25 games. Steroids, performance enhancing, diuretics, and masking agents…

Drugs of abuse have a treatment program. Marijuana used to have a 5 game suspension (then 10, 15, 20, etc) but was largely eliminated in this newest CBA.

Thank you. It just didn't seem like the story by his agent aligned with the punishment? so wanted to double-check,.. =]

So, yes. The thing is that the nba will NEVER officially announce which drug they found. They’ll never deny a public statement from the player that violated. They are required by confidentiality to not speak publicly or confirm or deny the specifics of the case. So, we all have only the offender to hear from. And whatever they say is all we have to go on. So, there’s absolutely no assurance that this is what really happened, as much as what Portis and his agent have come up with as their “believable story”.

I mean you trust the agent 100%?

According to agents, no NBA player has ever violated the NBA Drug Policy.

LOL,…. No, I don’t trust the agent. That is why I asked the question. If I trusted the agent, this string of comments would never have happened. o0. :)

Thanks to all who have posted. I now have a much better understanding of situation. :)

Looking at the standings and paying particular attention to the road records, I can see Detroit passing Milwaukee for 5th.

Tristan Thompson - 25 games in 2024
John Collins - 25 games in 2019
DeAndre Ayton - 25 games in 2019
Wilson Chandler - 25 games in 2019
Jodie Meeks - 25 games in 2018

Well, hell's bells. There I go being wrong again. Ha! At least I'm consistent in my wrongness.

Yeah Cade has been incredible, but Lillard/Gianni's could easily rattle off 12 wins in 15 games to no one's surprise.

It was a notification that Kendall Brown was signing a 2 way deal with the Nets.

The Bucks are ticking me off. I legit thought they were gonna get worse after trading Middleton.

We should clinch 10th soon. As a reminder, magic number is 83 (82 with tie breaker) minus Pacers' wins and minus opponent's losses. If zero or negative, they can't catch us.

Bucks have a long road trip coming and we have the Nets twice. If we don't play down to their level, 4th should be in sight.

Also magic number for 10th is down to 3.

Bucks, Pacers, and Pistons are all now guaranteed to finish no worse than 10th. Magic numbers to lock 6th are still substantial, but we're all no worse than in the play-in.

Just noticed that the Pistons play the Bucks twice at the end of the season.

I would've preferred the Lakers beating the Magic tonight. It would've helped us lock out the Magic and have the Lakers less panicked Wednesday.

Even though we unfortunately lost to the Lakers the Knicks and Bucks also lost. The Pistons didn’t play.

3rd place Knicks are 3 games ahead of the Pacers in 4th. Pacers are 1.5 games ahead of the 5th place Pistons and 2 games ahead of the 6th place Bucks.
