Re: PG Clippers - Great Win!
Kuz's D when he's locked in is pretty damn solid, he's long, moves his feet well and contests shots. He is a real option for us to throw at Tatum / Brown in those Boston games.
I like what KPJ brings off the bench and he is just a better player than Rollins at this stage of their careers, he is a nice scoring spark when Dame sits.
Sims is big, moves his feet pretty well and defensively is going to be a much better option than Bobby at C. Can tell he's a bit of a spaz and will be limited offensively, but should be good for some lobs when people get used to playing with him.
Knowing what he know now about Bobby's suspension and Khris' obvious lack of value at the deadline, a few people (me included) might owe Horsty an apology. It's early still, but not as awful a deadline as it appeared.

We just lost our 6th man big, Giannis was on minutes restrictions and Brook played less minutes than his season average. Previous 3 games all under 30 minutes.
I've no qualms about tonight. I don't trust Doc to continue to do what he did tonight.
30 tonight. Previous 3 games were 26,24,24. With Giannis out. Good trend that hopefully is continued.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Giannis was 2 for 2 when he outright directed Sims where to set the pick or move out of the way.
I really like the new guys. Looks like the idea now is to get more physical, which I can totally dig.
Thumbs up to all the starters getting 7 (GA 8) boards.

Seriously? I’d need someone from the game thread to confirm.

Porter pretty much kept the Bucks in the game in the 3rd quarter. Entered the game in the latter part of the 3rd. Played 4:18. Scored 9 of the Bucks 23 points. 3 for 4 from the field driving to the basket, mostly unassisted. 3 for 3 from the foul line. Floor game was weak. No rebounds, assists, steals or blocks. 1 foul.

Bummed that Portis will miss the opportunity to mesh with the new additions. I was thinking that a front court of Giannis, Kuzma and Portis would be great to close games because of the defensive size and quickness. The switching flexibility would be unreal. The ability to help and recover could be very disruptive.

Great resilient win. I didn’t think we could pull this one out when we went behind by double digits in the third.
Just wanted to give props to Brook for still being a fantastic NBA center at almost 37 years old. What a legend.

But what if our chemistry is better without Bobby?old skool wrote:Bummed that Portis will miss the opportunity to mesh with the new additions. I have zero interest in seeing Bobby switched onto Tatum or Brunson or Mitchell in a close game late in the fourth.

Re: PG Clippers - Great Win!
Somehow this lineup was locking down the Clippers late in a close game:
Dame/AJG/Kuz/Prince/Brook
It’s pretty clear the issues on D are when guards and wings can just blow by Bucks players on the dribble and five out teams pulling Brook from the rim.
Clippers play a traditional C so that keeps Brook at the rim. Then AJG and Kuz stay in front of their man. Dame when he is trying is decent at that too as his defensive issue is wings can back him down and force help. For some reason the Clippers didn’t try to get Kawhi posted on Dame. Prince can stay in front of wings, he just struggles with really quick guards so with Norm out they didn’t have a guy to attack Prince.
All of this is to say AJG and Kuz instead of Trent and Midds is a massive deal on staying in front and not compromising the entire D.

Re: PG Clippers - Great Win!
Hey, I get that Portis can be infuriating. Especially when he freezes on defense. But no team has flawless lineups.
Who do we want to switch onto Tatum, Brunson or Mitchell? I was thinking that the mobile length could be confusing and disruptive to offenses. But the Bucks won't have the chance to put that together with Portis missing 6 weeks or so.
The lack of continuity will be hard to overcome for a mid-level team like the Bucks.

I said this in the game thread but why put Giannis on a minutes restriction that doesn't account for having him available in crunch time? I'm not a Doc hater but that's dumb. Fortunately we got it done without him.
KPJ looks to be a solid rotation piece. Still getting assimilated in his third game.
Box score doesn't show it but Sims looks to be playable. Much needed with Bobby out.
Dame was horrible most of the game but had a good 4th.
Brook had a great game.
Kuzma solid.
Prince very good.
Great win.
Was it potentially that they planned to save some Giannis minutes to close the game but then burned them early in the fourth during that run to get back in the game?
Either way, I’m happy they have a different plan to keep him healthy than last year’s plan of running him into the ground in the RS.

I’d say AJG, Prince, Kuz, and Giannis would all fair better than Bobby on any of those players. Bobby does not use his length on D at all. AJG plays bigger on D than Bobby.

This continues to be an elite defensive team when Dame sits. Should be easy to get KPJ more minutes since Dame is useless until the 4th quarter anyway.
Giannis is the ultimate leader. He willed the team back into the game.

Our first look at Giannis playing with an athletic, non shooting center went well. It didn't cause spacing issues, and the defense is elite. Now, I doubt the Clippers gameplanned for this, so it will be interesting to see how teams react to Giannis/Sims.

Love that Doc saved his challenge for the Harden arm lock. Huge over turn there. Harden gave up after that.

Will Prince continue to be the starting SG, or was this a one game thing because they like the Prince defending Harden?
