Not Loyal, No Journeyman Draft (Post Merger) - Discussion
Draft Rules:
1. All NBA seasons from 1976-77 to 2023-24 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.
2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 8 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations. Any player chosen in a season that is pre-merger will have a multiplier of 0.85 applied against their actual fga, rounded to closest 0.1.
3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.
4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. He needs to play at least 50% of his games for an eligible franchise.
5. In each round, you select a player, who throughout his professional career, played for at least two different franchises and at most three different franchises (at least one regular season or playoff game). This includes both ABA and NBA franchises, while different phases of a franchise's history count for the same franchise, e.g. Baltimore Bullets, Capital Bullets and Washington Bullets all count as the same franchise, thus Wes Unseld isn't eligible for example.
2024-25 season also affects the franchise count for a player. Any game played for some franchise after the draft starts (meaning, 23 February) doesn't affect eligibility.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA.
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
9. Draft order will be completely randomized.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.
11. The winner of the draft will be determined by polls. AI will be used as a single vote when a matchup is tied and stuck.
Team Roster Page Rules:
You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:
. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA
-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings

Re: Not Loyal, No Journeyman Draft - Signups
Honestly?
I really am not seeing that this is all that much research. Underneath the season by season stats is a very straightforward list of the franchises they’ve played for.
But I’m still kind of enjoying my time off on these. Burned myself out a bit I think which is why I didn’t even finish my team in the last game.
I don’t think there is any issue with the premise.

Re: Not Loyal, No Journeyman Draft - Signups
For me it was actually pretty easy to remember which are the top guys for this, and I remember pretty well if a player stayed for one team or been to at least four. I simulated possible first six rounds and didn't feel difficult or research heavy to me. But maybe that's just me.
As Snake mentioned, when you enter a player's page you can check eligibility pretty fast.

Calling this "research" seems like a stretch.
I'm still on the fence though, the premise is OK but don't love going back to the 60s.

What if a playet plays for team a, then team b, but back to team c then back to twam a?
Is that 4 teams or 3 teams?

As an example to better understand, a hypothetical Career Path of Lakers-Celtics-Raptors-Lakers-Raptors-Celtics-Lakers would be 3 teams not 7.

I think it's the best time frame for the pool

I'll be cool with Post Merger as well though.
Edit: or 80s to now if we're less than ten participants

Re: Not Loyal, No Journeyman Draft - Signups
Clarifying question: for any player that happened to be on the Charlotte Hornets roster the year prior and after they moved to New Orleans in 2002 - the same year that it is no longer Charlotte Hornets franchise history - does that count as an additional franchise for them?

Valid question. I had it on my mind as well, but yeah - since the league official history count it as two different franchises, then it's two different franchises. I couldn't remember any player of interest this would really affect though
