As far as Shaq...lol...dude.... Shaq came 30 some odd votes away from being league MVP on the Heat.
My take:
Wade is a no brainer
Lebron is a no brainer
Shaq is a no brainer
Bosh is the only one some could make an argument against but he was a key player who took a step back for Wade and Lebron to explode. Plus the gifs he gave cements his top 5 ranking.
Jimmy
If one is going on sentimental value I get why they would have Zo on the list. The problem is Zo teams consistently underperformed in the playoffs ( other more stronger words can easily be used instead of underperformed), in contrast Jimmy teams over performed.
Oh and the Mavs where scared to death of Shaq, they had some PTDS and where double and triple teaming him which is what help give Wade a runway to attack the basket.
How is Shaq a no brainer though? He had 2 good seasons playing 2nd fiddle to Wade and underperformed every year in the playoffs.
Bosh is nowhere near Jimmy
Shaq is a no brainer. Im basing it off of results so rings have more value. Also Shaq almost won MVP his first year here, if Wade didnt get hurt against the pistons, good odds we have two rings in that time frame. Look at the Mavs finals, they were scared to death of Shaq and double and triple teamed him. Thats why Shaq such a no brainer.
Bosh I can see the argument against but you of all people should be the one defending Bosh. He sacrificed his game for the team, he got out of his comfort zone, played a position he didnt want to for the team to click. He sacrificed his game, his shots, focused on defense so Wade and Lebron could explode. Doesn't that remind you of someone on the team currently

Shaq is unquestionably ahead of Butler. We went from a good team with Caron, Lamar Odom, and Wade to a great one with Wade & Shaq. A lot of Wades early success can be attributed to Shaq. There’s no ‘06 title without Shaq and possibly no ‘12 and ‘13 without Shaq. Man was integral in Miami finally breaking through

Wades not getting to the hole as easy without the shaq. Big man couldn't help off him.

^Not only that...as much promise as Wade showed his rookie year, MIA was never truly on the map until the FO traded for Shaq. They became a national franchise in an instant.
That '05 team was even better than the '06 team that won the title imo....losing G7 at home to those damn Pistons still irks me to this day, maybe even moreso than 2011. If our whole starting lineup wasn't physically broken, we'd have beaten them in 6 & could've taken down SA in those Finals.

Wade was better than Shaq from the second Shaq got here, don’t care if he finished higher than Wade for MVP because of his popularity compared to the 2nd year Wade.
It’s not a knock on bosh to say he’s worse than Jimmy though lol. Jimmy is literally the 3rd best player in Heat history, he reached levels we’ve NEVER seen in a Heat jersey when it mattered most outside of Wade and Lebron. Doesn’t matter if Bosh sacrificed or not, he was never in his career the player Jimmy was while
He was in a Heat jersey.
You can take Jimmy’s signatures playoff moments while playing for the Heat and he’d have more than Shaq and Bosh combined.

Re: 2025 Regular Season Thread Vol. 8
Look I’m all for hypothetical what if injury scenarios, especially when it comes to the franchise goat. If he doesn’t get hurt in 05 we win, 07 if he doesn’t get hurt not sure about the overall team success (potential 3 peats are unlikely) but he was the frontrunner for MVP that year, and if LeBron didn’t sabotage the 11 finals there’s another ring and FMVP. We’re talking about injuries possibly derailing a top 5 ever career. It’s just not talked about like Tmac, rose, Roy, etc. because despite all of that he’s still top 20 ever.
It’s sounding like you all are giving Shaq more credit to the Heat winning and being good in 05 and 06 than Wade, I would love to hear an argument about how Shaq was better than Wade at any point in their Heat tenure together.

So Shaq turned us from a good to great team and put us in the map (Wade would’ve regardless) but that is literally what Jimmy did too or did you all already forget lol?
Please tell me who had us getting to the finals once in Jimmy’s time here with the rosters we put around him let alone 3 times.

Hold on, I had to refresh my memory on the specifics. Shaq has 1 30 point playoff game for the Heat, Bosh has 2, someone correct me if I’m wrong. This one will piss you all off, Bam arguably has more signature playoff games than Bosh and Shaq combined, let alone Jimmy. Get real fellas, yall are letting emotions get the best of you.
Alright I’m done, time to lock in for this L against the Raptors. Just had to bring some facts to the table for you all.

Maybe season-wise you can say there'd be no title without Shaq, but playoffs-wise, there'd be no title without 'Zo. Shaq was running on fumes in the finals.Johnny Fontane wrote:Shaq is unquestionably ahead of Butler. We went from a good team with Caron, Lamar Odom, and Wade to a great one with Wade & Shaq. Of course , however Shaq still drew attention so that Wade could go off

Good chance Wade leaves Miami in 2010 if Shaq didn't come here and help us win that chip, which also established Wade as an all-time local legend. And if we're honest, both of Jimmy's finals runs were flukey in and of themselves (bubble fluke, Giannis injury fluke).
I don't like how Jimmy left but I also don't hate him for it. In fact, I'm starting to warm up to him on the second team I watch. However, that still doesn't change my opinion that he's not ahead of any of the other 5 guys on all-time Heat players. Shid, I'd even have Tim Hardaway ahead of him... Timmy was my favorite Heat player ever until Wade.

Keep climbing the ranks young goat.
Edit: didn’t realize this was pregame. So tied Rony tonight, still tied with Rice and 6 more rebounds to pass Zo

Get two picks this year in a supposed loaded draft that after really looking at it doesn’t seem loaded at all unless in the top 10. Also opens up potential of 4 picks being traded with 2 this year with 2030 and 2032. Issue is we end up coughing up two unprotected picks in 2026 to OKC and 2028 to Hornets.
if we make po’s our team, esp the youngens, gain valuable experience. If not we gain picks. Win / win?
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

Yeah pretty much. I think this team gels down the stretch and we lock up the 8th seed.
