I have no idea what the situation is with Bobby. He's a great guy and a very good player. Love him.

At the same time I've been around here a long time. Have seen the Joe Smith hotel incident, TJ Ford's apartment getting raided by the MPD, Bobby allegedly punching a hooker, Mo starting a locker room fight with assistant coach Tony Brown, all the stealth disciplinary suspensions Jason Kidd handed out that were classified as "hamstring injury", and the list goes on and on.

None of this Bobby story passes the smell test. He loses $1.5 million in a home burglary, misses two weeks for grandma's funeral and now we get this news that he just took a mild painkiller his buddy had leftover from a dental procedure and that warrants a 25 game suspension.

I didn't hear Doc stutter in that press conference yesterday, but that's only because he's a better actor than Larry Harris.

There certainly could be more to the story about the Tramadol stuff, but how much of a conspiracy rabbit hole are you going down by implying that any of these things could be connected? Or is this implying that Bobby is gonna disappear to a "resort" for the next couple months and get clean?

this video is why we needed Butler so badly, literally perfect fit here. And now I have to wonder if Bobby taking a Tramadol tanked any trade opportunity we had for him

I have no idea. Zero. Just a strong sense that the timeline and story the team is presenting may be some degrees off what actually happened here.

The most useful piece for this board is that fact that Bobby was not tradeable two weeks ago. And not that they were ever going to trade Brook, but Bobby's situation also froze any Brook discussions that might have germinated.

If Porter Jr. and Kuzma keep playing well, Horst may have saved the season with those deals. We'll see.

Bobby is allowed to practice with team. It will be interesting if he does that or if he's out of sight for awhile.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If that Garcia soundbite is true about Bobby getting popped for the test months ago, then this whole thought process needs a proper explanation from the team. Seems incredulous that they'd knowingly sit on this and not have him just serve the suspension right away. Even if they appealed to the league office, this wouldn't have taken months to get resolved.

btw...you didnt include larry sanders in your list. i sounded the horn on that dude for like an entire year and guys were like no no no. he should have made your list too. his case was raunchy and a bit similar as well

The timeline is what's unclear to me. The Bucks did not appeal the Portis suspension because they knew they wouldn't win (it's a strict liability offense; there is no excusable neglect that Bobby can fall back on) and because they didn't want the appeal to drag into the postseason. That makes sense.

Whats not clear to me is when everyone was actually notified of the positive test. I'm not sure why there would be any meaningful period of time between the positive test and the suspension if there was no appeal. Perhaps Bobby was provisionally notified of a positive test of his A-sample pending a test of a B- sample. But that shouldn't take that long.

This was from the article on the suspension:

Portis missed the Nov. 13 game against Detroit after experiencing pain in his elbow during warmups. League sources told the Journal Sentinel the positive test came around Thanksgiving. As for the lag between the positive test and suspension, a league source said there is typically a lengthy process between the two.

So, does Bobby opt in now next season.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

A few days delay? Sure, makes sense. A week? I mean yeah, nothing too weird about that. But 3-months between the positive test and the announcement of the suspension? When there was no appeal? That's absurd. The team and the league office need to fully explain what the whole process was here.

Yeah I don't think it's as simple as 1. positive test 2. let's do the suspension immedidately. If that were the case of course the Bucks would have done that right away in November. I'm sure the CBA has procedures that have to be followed and hence, the 90 day delay.

Thanks, I missed that. That's an insane delay between the positive test and the suspension, especially when it sounds like no one was disputing that he took the pill.

If it follows other sport drug testing procedures then there are usually two samples that get tested. If the first sample shows positive then the second sample gets tested to ensure no false positives. This would take longer than a week especially if other samples are being submitted by other players.
But I am not sure exactly what the NBA's procedures are.

Embrace the dark side Ron. The timelines and stories do not add up.

(and I'm not saying there is some huge scandal here, just more than what we've been told).

Don’t we free up 2-3 million with him suspended? What able bodied 4/5 is out there for us? Give Ellenson a shot?

Thanasis, Crowder or Tucker :). Able being subjective.

Bobby opting in is the best case scenario for us.
