Ouch!!! How this incompetent management hasn't traded for assets while they can is mind boggling ... personally, I think Vlad is massively overrated and best to cash in now.

The Jays have lost any leverage they had on the Vladdy trade market. Heading into free agency, they’re going to get a lot less in a trade than if they’d been proactive. Total fumble by the front office.

Re: Official Blue Jays 2025 Spring Training Thread
As seems to be the fate of Toronto teams, the Jays are now another Frankenstein roster of win now and can’t win now. I don’t know if Vlad is worth anything like he’s asking…or more accurately I’m sure he’s not as of now, but when was the last young franchise player who signed for what everyone considered a reasonable amount at the time? It’s always a rapidly changing market, and the number of young franchise players the Jays have ever signed away from another team remains at zero, so not sure what we’re saving up for. Certainly none of our current prospects appear ready to strain our budget.
But especially if they knew they did not intend to really be in on Guerrero, I don’t understand the win-now moves that have characterized this off-season. Tbh I don’t understand them all that much more with Vlad, but if he has one of his better seasons I can at least see the thinking. But we’re left with another Toronto team detailing a car without an engine.

I think the Jays expected a top 30ish player in baseball asking for the 3rd highest contract in baseball history to eventually drop his demands to something even remotely reasonable.
That may still happen but it may take coming to that realization during free agency.

Should have traded him at the deadline last year but this FO wanted to take a shot at winning this year to keep their jobs.

Agreed, just goes to show that this front office has never had a clear vision of how to build not only a winner, but a sustainable winner... They lack the foresight and ability to be proactive.

Would be huge if we actually had a homegrown talent come through the system and become something special.

Best case scenario - he gets the high offer in off-season and gives us an opportunity to match. Will probably be close to 500.

So who do we want from the Dodgers?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Roden might be legit. Left handed bat getting a hit off one of the toughest lefties in the game is impressive. 2 for 2 today, both doubles.

Completely depends on the type of season he has.
Similar to 2024 (~950 OPS) $500m+ is definitely on, and likely
Similar to 2022/2023 (~800 OPS) even $400m is a stretch at 1st base
