Bobby opting in is the best case scenario for us.

1000%. Expiring, relatively cheap contract for a guy who puts up starter level stats. Huge trade chip.

This is what I was alluding to in the wake of his suspension, on how it might affect his market. Desirable skill-set for some teams, but a propensity for getting ejected/suspended. Fair or not, it's his reputation at this point.

If he opts in he is movable salary right away, which would be huge.

The thing is Bobby is not a good 5 and we already have Giannis and Kuzma at the 4. Opting in would be better for the Bucks.

Cap dudes, does this saved money from BP affect the salary level of a buyout target? Or are we still above the 1st apron and can't go after a guy that made 12.8 mill or higher..

At this point Bobby can definitely opt in. I don’t see it though without an agreement for extension.

That’s probably the most realistic win win scenario. Bucks get a lower number, Bobby gets another long term deal.

I doubt Bobby opts in. He's at the age where you want a 3/4 year deal and there are plenty of teams that will give him that. I don't think the suspension hurts his value that much.

Some offseason thoughts..

- Bobby isn’t getting more than the full MLE. I’m bringing him back with a 4/60, obviously less is better and maybe you talk him into another bargain deal.

- GTJ is another keeper. Give him that 2y/10,5mil (BAE) and hope it’s enough. Given what Beasley got in FA, Trent’s market shouldn’t be much higher.

- It’s too soon for KPJ to demand another deal after what happened with him. I feel confident he opts in and tests his market after another full NBA season.

- Bucks have taken good care of Brook. His minimum is 3,5 mil. Still good money for a slow 37 y/o C. Give him a PO and let him retire as a Buck.

- Prince for another minimum deal obviously is a keeper too, hopefully though for a lesser regular season minute eater role.

Assuming everyone comes back this team still lucks a 3 and D next to Dame and a lob threat next to Giannis. So..

- Trade somehow Pat for Timelord. Both expirings. Put Smith, Livingston, #45, 2031 and 2032 SRPs on the table. Let Portland choose.

- Sign NAW. With the full MLE and a starting job to offer you can take him out of Minny’s hands. Obviously anything less than a 4/60 is even better.

Dame (32)/KPJ (16)
NAW (24)/Green (20)/KPJ (4)
Kuzma (28)/Trent (20)
Giannis (32)/Bobby (16)
Brook (24)/Williams (20)/Bobby (4)

That’s a DEEP team with Rollins/AJJ/Prince rounding up the roster that can give you a top 4 regular season seeding with fresh legs in the playoffs.

If other teams knew Kuzma would defend like this idk if our offer would have won out.

Or course significant assumption this lasts. But every team is looking for switchable big athletic wings, even if they are low IQ chuckers.

I like Bobby. Bobby is important to this team for depth. But no way am I paying that type of money for Bobby at age 30. That’s how we got the Pat C. contract. I’d offer him 2/$24 with a player option if he needs it.

Bobby is not one of those transcendent talents who can play at the same level into his 30’s IMO.

Is it a huge difference to play NY than IND in the first round? I don’t see us dropping beyond 6. Giannis needs to sit and heal. If he comes in injured again we are going to be 3 years in a row of personal accolade questing over winning in the playoffs.

I view the Knicks as a much worse matchup for us.

I want the 4 seed. One HCA series, play Cavs second over Boston. Think Cavs are better but we matchup better against them.

I still don't consider a 3 seed out of the question.. I think we'll go on a run just in the effort of developing cohesion.. if another team(s) above us has a slide it could end up coming down to the wire

Are we able to apply that savings towards next year?

Zero chance they catch New York.

They are 5.5 games out of 3 seed, have a hard remaining schedule, and teams will tank at the end. Not sure about NY’s schedule but even if it was also hard, no chance.

I’d rather face NY with healthy Giannis than Ind with injured/no Giannis. I know it isn’t an either/or but we are going down the exact same road as the last two years with our stars banged up as we limp toward the postseason.

We aren't catching NY, we have one of the toughest schedules the rest of the way and Thibs plays his guys big minutes. Would take probably 3 big injuries for us to catch them or both Brunson and KAT.

We matchup with Boston much better than the Cavs imo. Idk if Brook can play a single minute against Cleveland. But we won't have a choice #4 is best we can do.

Not sure anyone said he's a transcendent talent (strawman).

Having said that, I would avoid a 4 year contract for anyone not named Giannis. BP will probably get more than a year contract.

Letting him go and still not having cap space would be negligence and Horst won't do that.

The other thing about BP is he doesn't rely on athleticism to get the job done, so it is less likely for him to regress as quickly as you imply.

His absence creates an efficient scoring and rebounding void that's not easily replaceable. Two years with a mutual option year at 14 million. Hire me and I'll get it done.
