It’s WILD that LeBron hasn’t won an MVP in 12 years

Post#1 » by Hook_Em » Sat Feb 22, 2025 6:59 pm

I’m not a LBJ honk but he should have at least one, maybe two more MVP’s since he won his last in 2013.

MVP winners since then:
14’ - KD
15’ - Steph
16’ - Steph (unanimous)
17’ - Russ
18’ - Harden
19’ - Giannis
20’ - Giannis
21’ - Jokic
22’ - Jokic
23’ - Embiid
24’ - Jokic

LeBron could have been the MVP in 2021 if he didn’t get injured.

That was also the weakest Jokic MVP

It’s wild that AD didn’t win Finals MVP despite dragging a non playoff team to a ring after his first season. And wild that he drug a non playoff team to the playoffs in again in 2023 and didn’t get an MVP.

Lakers have been a sub 40-win team without AD in the lineup ever since LeBron arrived.

Lebron didn't really have an argument in most cases, therefore, I don't see what the issue is. What's wild is that he's still racking up awesome numbers despite having won his last MVP 12 years ago.

Derrick Rose is probably the only other player where that kind of scenario would seem realistic and that's because he won it at age 22.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

?why?

you can basically blow up his time @lakers. gsw and sas owned the years previous

let's see,,,going back 12yrs is right around when miami was lukkky enough to match against the youngest team since the blazers. that okc starting team was younger than 24/25 okc. lebron got his trophies when he matured - that's cavs>miami ____THAT WAS HIS WINDOW. he wasn't getting it as a young cav especially with the celts big three, and then after his window FORGET IT

regardless, the mvp vote is very egalitarian. there are always a few worthy candidates in any given year which makes the voting very liberal. and in the past 12yrs, there's been giannis who him alone has been ahead of the race, then you throw in a dominant jokic, then take you pick from gsw and sas before that

and the mvp is not a "best" vote.

He was in the top 5 MVP voting all the way to 2018. I think part of the reason he didn't get MVP in 12 years is because the NBA and public already knew Lebron was one of the best. If you just keep giving him every award, what happens when he retires? There's a lack of interest because the guy that was the top in the game every year isn't there. Now, the NBA has other players you can see are also at the top of the game and keeps things relevant as time goes on. I think that's also a big reason why usually MVPs are on average 27-28 years old because the NBA wants to give the title to someone who should be playing many more years.

I don't think he deserved it more than the actual winners in any of those years. The year he maybe should've won it was 2011, but there was some voter fatigue and people were annoyed by The Decision. That would have been five in a row. But after that, no I don't think he deserved another one.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that since AD arrived, the Lakers record with Lebron and no AD is better than with AD and no LeBron.

2021 was probably the best chance since then. There was no clear favorite and he was playing out of his mind before the Solomon Hill injury.

He didn’t go full all out in the regular season (for obvious reasons, he went to 8 straight Finals), and the likes of Steph, KD, Harden, and now Jokic and Giannis put up bigger numbers

MVP is not really all that important in the grand scheme of things once you have rings. It’s cool, but when you win a title, your focus shifts to other things.

why should he have at least one? When was he the MVP in your opinion?

There is no conspiracy, and not even "voting fatigue". He wasn't even close in 2011. Only got 3 votes. That's not voting fatigue.

I can see a case for 2018, but that's it.

Agreed. He was the best player in that series, huge lift for the squad.

As for Lebron not winning another MVP, he’s not as separated from the rest as his fans like to pretend. Durant, Butler, Dirk/Terry, Wade and then the several MVPs have all shown us this.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

2014, 2018, and 2020 he finished 2nd.

In 2014 Durant was 1st in PER, WS, WS/48, BPM, and VORP, played in 4 more games than Lebron, and his team won 5 more games.

In 2018 the Rockets won 15 more games, were a 1st seed instead of an 4th seed, and Harden was 1st in PER, WS, WS/48, and BPM.

In 2020 the Bucks won 4 more games and Giannis was 1st in PER, WS/48, and BPM. Harden was 1st in WS AND VORP so you could make the argument that Harden deserved 2nd place over Lebron.

I don’t think Lebron deserved it any of these years. In 2011 and 2008 he has better arguments.

It's only wild if your a diehard Lebron fan. It's a regular season award and Lebron stopped giving a **** about the regular season since his Miami days. The only year you could argue was 2021 when he had them 1st in the conference when AD went down and then he got hurt and ended that possibility.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think Lebron has won a playoff game without AD since coming out West.

When he went down vs the Suns, his fans and the media claimed that AD wasn’t needed to win that series. They got backdoor swept, embarrassed each game, then yall said he was injured. lol

It's not wild at all when you realize he was 28 that season

LeBron is not thinking about MVP's.

His legacy will only be determined by championships.

Leave the MVP's for guys like Jokic. LeBron in a different lane. LeGoatGlazer that's me.

Why would he won it? He never was regular season top MVP candidate in those 12 years. Each of player who won it was better player by mile than what Lebron did that year. Yes he was MVP playoff performer, but we not talking about that.

Who do you think was face of league during which opinion was created that regular season doesnt matter? Who do you think was face of league which leads every year NBA ratings to go down?

That's difference between you know who I am talking to and Lebron. One was creating NBA golden age and ushering it there, and one is leading it to it's fall. So it's not wild.
