Crazy two years ago everyone was talking about the age of parity, then stuff like this.

Kinda true. Post-Warriors of mid-2010s, there really hasn’t been one dominant team in the league. Jays-led Celtics have gone to multiple CFs but it’s still just one title so far. Nuggets with Jokic were being touted as the next dynasty but CBA and cheap owners prevented that. It does seem the mid-tier teams have grown in number. Maybe the parity lies there and in the increased unpredictability of the postseason.

Yeah I suppose on a macro level. On the level of a single season (I understand that’s not a complete data set), three of the top ten all time net ratings are for this season. Just very different than at this time in ‘23 when people were claiming an era of parity.

Amazing that Celtics have met all three criteria in each of Joe's coaching seasons. Probably the only team that has. (Denver might be the only other team if they win 4 straight and also end up as 3rd seed.)

The best single season road record in NBA history is by the Warriors in 2015-16 when they won 34 and lost just 7.

Celtics currently have 6 losses with 12 road games remaining — @TOR, @DET, @MIA, @BKN, @UTA, @POR, @SAC, @PHX, @SAS, @MEM, @NYK, @ORL.

Just a nice little side mission but Cs have a real shot at matching that record.

If healthy, we're getting banner 19.
My unpopular opinion is that genocide is bad and we should speak out against it.

Some of those elite teams don’t look quite as good as I remembered (Shaq lakers, Jordan Bulls), but they had one area where they were elite.

Cool to see those numbers and how they match up with recollections.

They’ll get 60 imo. They don’t need to, but I bet they want 60.

Thing that stuck out for me is how we’ve talked a lot about how they like big physical guards but I hadn’t thought of it in terms of offense/screens as much as the more obvious defensive capacity it brings.

Not just big physical guards. Pritchard himself sets solid screens. Whoever is our screening coach should be given a raise. I think it’s only JB and maybe Hauser who aren’t great at it.

Right, I should say big and/or physical as these aren’t mutually exclusive.

via @dartadams.bsky.social:
In a “down” season, the Boston Celtics are 40-16.

15-1 after losses.
23-6 on the road*
15 wins over 20 points*
12 wins holding their opponent below 100 points*

*indicates NBA best

Also, StatMuse is dumber than rocking corduroy basketball shorts

How is 15-1 after losses not the best in the NBA?

Celtics now on a 59-23 pace, all the rotation players are healthy, and they have the third easiest remaining strength of schedule (via Tankathon).

Feels like another 60-win season is incoming.

OKC has my respect. Until we beat them, I won't know that we can. They'll almost surely have HCA.
CLE with Hunter also deserves respect, but I like our odds.
Those are the only two teams that could take us to 6 or 7. Confident against CLE; nervous against OKC. But if healthy, you're right that the Cs are the favorites.

After the win vs. the Knicks, Celtics clinched their 10th consecutive non-losing season. The last time Cs had a losing record was Brad's 2nd year as coach. JT and JB haven't had a losing season in their career.

Worth noting Hauser still wearing a massive back brace on the bench unfortunately.
