Orlando - Dallas
Orlando trade: WCJ, Joseph, Houstan
Orlando receive: Gafford
Dallas trade: Gafford, Cash
Dallas receive: WCJ, Joseph
3rd team eats houstan for cash
Why for Orlando: take a mulligan on the wcj extension and get back someone who can give better rim protection/money expires sooner
Why for Dallas: gamble on WCJ bouncing back to be a stretch 5 next to AD
Add second(s) if needed

Re: Orlando - Dallas
I expect Dallas' plan is to pair AD with Gafford/Lively and form a defensive trio in the front-court.

I like it, diversifies the center portfolio and replace and expiring with an extended player, I'm just not sure the loaded ownership is willing to pay...
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Gafford is an average defender (good blocker) his value is that he is an excellent rim runner and finisher, better on offense than defense in my opinion and it is possible that without Luka feeding him he will not look as good.. I don't think it is a bad idea, replacing him with a center who can space the floor, although I suppose/hope that even if the regular season AD is a 4, when the Playoffs come, he will spend many minutes playing the 5.
In terms of roster construction, I'm interested in rounding out the roster with a big who can space the floor (in Gafford's spot) and a starting-level playmaker with some size to go along with and help handle KI's load (I also think KI is at his best as a scoring guard)..interested in guys like Lonzo (I'm intrigued by Giddey)

Re: Orlando - Dallas
I like it for both and I agree with your assessment of a DAL big rotation of WCJ with AD and Lively. Those three could coexist in any combo as WCJ and AD are both versatile offensive players. WCJ is not a high-flying rim protector but he's an excellent positional defender who is sturdy enough to bang (which is what AD doesn't want to do) but also can switch with surprising effectiveness out to the perimeter. He's also versatile and heady to adapt on both ends. Gafford is a much more limited specialist but that's what ORL needs next to Paolo & Franz. I'm not sure Gafford is really any better than Goga, but they are both excellent fits and make for a solid Center rotation...both could also play with Moe Wagner (when he returns from injury) next to them. I don't see how the salaries line up...maybe Hardy comes along too?
I also agree that Gafford was living his best life with Luka setting him up...it's quite possible that he doesn't look the same in ORL, but the bet would be that Franz & Paolo are developing their playmaking and, hopefully, ORL also finds their much-needed Lead Guard this summer.

Re: Orlando - Dallas
Gafford was still really effective without Luka. He can do more offensively than just finish lobs.
Smart trade really

Damn what happened to WCJ's shot, I checked the stats and he's shooting 19% from 3...I retract what I said about opening the court

I'm going with ...there's something dreadfully wrong with ORL's scheme...EVERYONE is shooting well below their career lows on 3's. KCP is the ultimate test - he's been reliable for a decade, comes to ORL and just forgot how to shoot?
Something institutional...I know that's not much of an answer, but...

They don't have an offensive flow or a high-level offensive creator.

Hence a gamble; if he was shooting his career norm he would be worth more

Horrifyingly obvious...and has been for years. Getting uglier by the day. Waiting for Paolo to finally snap, after yet another game crashing into triple teams, to the press and demand (hopefully only...) some help with offensive table-setting (like he did last year-but probably less politely this time). Alternatively, the world works differently now - he could just ask out.

Absolutely...I feel the same with KCP - something bigger going on than just everyone forgetting how to do what they've been doing for years in the NBA.

Too risky then, to that fact we must add that he is quite prone to injuries... I think I'll stick with Gafford and look elsewhere... keep in mind that AD/Lively are not exactly Ironman.

what? you mean Franz Iso & Paolo Iso or Franz/Paolo dribble handoff isn't an efficient offense

the day orlando gets a proper PG might be 2030
