The conundrum still exists. He's a guy that teams attack when he's on the floor and isn't a good enough scorer to be your best guard. I feel like he gets a fair amount of deflections and is doing a better job at challenging shots. If you surrounded him with lanky defenders, you might be able to successfully hide him.

Giddey’s last two 3s he was calling for the ball with his hands up and then as a target for the pass and then shot.

First time I’ve seen him do that all season.

I will keep saying it… a Lonzo like 3 ball makes him a keeper.

Even maintaining league average makes him a keeper at PF. Assuming he gets 30 minutes+, his average this season, 35.5%, would place him as the 13th best 3pt shooting PF getting 30 minutes. His career average, 32%, would place him as the 19th best, so nowhere near the bottom. This is why the argument that teams will target him all the time fails, a lot of teams have starters who shoot worse than Giddey from 3. They're usually at forward or center positions. And other, better shooting guards are on the court.

For small forwards, his current 35.5 places him at #11, his last year's 33.7 would place him at #13.

What percentage of teams do you all think have 5 starters shooting above 35% from three? Stats guys? The Thunder were one of the rare teams probably.

It's not like Giddey doesn't find ways to score, and hopefully his ability to finish gets better as he gets stronger.

He has a good mind and a good engine. He makes quick decisions and is consistently aggressive. Those 2 things make me a believer in his ability to improve, which takes willingness and consistency. He crashes the boards. Doesn't hesitate. His mistakes aren't usually related to choice, but execution. He misses his inside shots a lot, but his selection isn't necessarily bad. He might improve his inside scoring enough to become a + scorer. His shot is also improving and again, he's 22.

He brings good energy, moves the ball, husltes and rebounds. Overall it's a good player to have lead your team, even if he has weaknesses. Every player has weaknesses. There are players way better than Giddey with worse mentalities. I would keep him for that alone.

That description sounds like the anti- Patrick Williams, lmao! Great body, shooting and defense, no aggression, rebounding, ball movement or growth. I heartily approve. About the same size too, taking Giddey every day and twice on Sunday.

Two keeper games in a row for Giddey.

Two games where he called for the ball multiple times when open for 3.

His FTs look a lot better. Prob 50% there with the setup. Elbow much more in and shooting more with wrists and fingertips and not he palmed heave. Hes stepping into his 3 more. Nearly all his misses with the heave are short. His two misses tonight were long. Much better arc and rotation.

He’s making plays on D too. Playing physical. I like the improvement I’m seeing. He needs to plays like the offensive engine. He has the last two games.

He needs a guard that can get downhill next to him. I like to see the shooting progress.

I think he's proven enough to get a good contract. He's young so he will improve throughout the length of it . If he signs a sensible deal of course .

Yep. VJ would be a darn good fit with his D on the quickest guard.

It's kind of hard to understand why people value him so low. He hasn't just played well these last two games, he's played well most of 2025. Even more so now that he's leading the offense. If he's better than he is right now, looking at 20+ pts, 7, and 7 with starter minutes and a lead role in a year or two. You don't let other team's steal your 22 year old restricted free agents that can put up 20, 7, and 7. If you have to match a high price, guess what? That's the market price, defined as the maximum price an eligible purchaser will pay for a product.

We should have negotiated at that $30 mill, tried to lock him in in the $20's. He keeps playing like this, he's getting some very good offers. It won't be $15-$20 mill AAV. Unless Nets don't like him at all, and nobody else clears enough space to make an offer. Which is a possibility. But we can't let him leave. If he was in the draft this year, he'd be front runner for ROY, and that includes Flagg.

Is it possible we haven't seen the best of Coby White? He just turned 25 a couple of weeks ago, so just hitting his prime. 19 pts/gm last season, 18 pts/gm this season. I've been guilty of writing him off as a very good sixth man. Fell into the trap of thinking his physicals attributes mean he'll never be an average defender, which is not true. He's listed at 6'5", 195 lbs. Room to get stronger, more active defensively. He's a good shooter and a fair ballhandler who could get still get stronger at that and attacking. I keep seeing White as that skinny smiling kid we drafted, maybe it's just me. :) With Zach gone and him locking down the starting SG spot, there could be some forced growth there.

He's also played PG next to Zach most of his career. So he's guarding and trying to get past the quickest, best ball handling, most steals position in the league. Way more great PG's now than SG's. His average PG speed, quickness, ballhandling look much better at SG. He'll need to get stronger to guard SG's but they won't be just blowing by him because they're quicker.

Think most of us agree his best position is SG, which is really not where he's spent most of his time.

He’s played well recently but let’s not forget he has disappeared in plenty of games and he’s averaging 12ppg on the season in his 4th year.

We all hope he keeps progressing and we have a piece to build with. We have 25 games to see. If they are like the last 3 he’s a keeper. If they are a mixed bag he will probably have to take a cheaper deal or go get an offer.

Both but VJ has a chance because he has that Oladipo level athleticism

He was bad to start out the year but he’s played better. Even though he’s playing better he still can’t create his own shot off the dribble. Most GMs want this skill from their PGs. So I don’t see him getting anything above 18.

He’s a keeper regardless. Price is the only thing to discuss.

Giddey playing better lately.. showing some good stuff, I like he is agressive on the boards, we lack that badly, most of the guys just watch the ball if it will just magically fell in the hands lol.. I hate that passive attitude! Go for the f.... rebounds!

If Giddey can be resigned up to 22M/2yrs,do it.. but he still has some weaknesses to be worth even more at the moment.. still young of course, he can improve without a problem, D the main thing and to create his own shot thru dribble, he mostly goes into drive to the rim, sometimes he makes it, sometimes his athletic disadvantage gets him blocked.

I'm going to be in the minority here but there are only 3 guys on the current team I would not get rid of: Matas, Giddey and Phillips. The rest of the team is expendable and replaceable. I'd also keep Ball another year to see if his knee holds up and he gets back closer to his pre-injury form. For the right deals the rest of the team is expendable.
